That's not what he is saying. Properly built rebuilds have bridge players. The gap between impact is a dozen years. You have to have a mid 20's star or core player to cross over. Otherwise you are gambling on every single one of the young players to not only succeed but flourish.

Trading from an overwhelming amount of youth for a young established star doesn't rob anything. It accentuates growth allows for flexibility.

Sure it does. It limits your swings. Make no mistake, this team is nowhere near success and most likely won't be during the rest of Anze's contract. Not only will they need time for Byfield, Turcotte, Kaliyev and Co. to reach the NHL, they will need years to learn how to play as a team before challenging.

This is a longterm process, there is no fast-forward option. Trading the three or four pieces to bring in an Eichel is something an impatient and perpetually disappointing franchise would do. Its just flat out stupid. Its borrowing from Peter at a ridiculous interest rate to pay less than you fully owe to Paul.

Its going to get worse before it gets better and fans need to buckle up. It will be bumpy for a while. Don't let the minor successes of this team fool you, this is just the last gasps of the prime of the previous batch of heroes. They are doing the best they can, but its only good enough to get about 3/4s of a season before fading.

They already committed to the rebuild. You don't sabotage it in fond memory of what happened nearly a decade ago now.

Luff seems like a good guy and got unlucky at times with injuries, but if he's not scoring goals he's not doing anything on the ice. This was going to happen eventually

I was rooting for Luff due to his Hamilton Bulldog connection. Real nice kid and I recall speaking with him back in May 2018. Was happy the Kings gave him an opportunity and was talking about the adjustment going from the OHL to AHL and that it was going to take him some time.

Wish him the best regardless of where he ends up. Still only 23, lots of pro hockey left for him to play.

I kind of liked Luff. He had the same treatment as LaDue. Showed promise on the first call up. Had a weak camp the following year and got sent down. Couldnt get going consistently on the next call up opportunity.
To be fair to LaDue, the guy scored a goal in that Vegas playoff series when they were having troubles scoring. He got scratched the next game because they liked the pylons like Fantenberg and Forbort better. He never really played after that maybe a couple games only.

I really don't think we're that far off. Maybe first round of playoffs next year and then contend the year after. This is Kaliyev, Turcotte, and Bjornfot's D+2 year. I don't think it's unreasonable that they can be significant contributors in their D+4 year, while Byfield will be D+3. They're all playing in the same system right now, so I don't think the whole "they need time to play together in a system" argument holds. If they can't figure out the system in 3 years, then we have other issues.

The times, they are a changing. Bottom 6 taking on more multi faceted type of players.

Amadio, Luff...no longer Kings. Incapable of bring much of anything needed to bottom 6. This will continue to happen, as more talented, multi-faceted players are coming up, or acquired, that bring something more:
Andersson, Lemieux.

Andersson - bringing bottom 6 skill and can play any forward position. Goes to net (only Brown consistently does that...Grundstrom to an extent) and score goals.
Lemieux - size, toughness, pest. Reasonable skills.
Moore was the bottom 6 upgrade last year; can skate, handle pucks, forecheck, score some (more than Amadio, Luff)
JAD - can skate, forecheck, MAKE PLAYS, shoot, score, DRIVE A LINE.

I know Hrudey was bad in that game, but dear God was Fuhr downright embarrassing to watch.

Fuhr was probably high.

Zhamnov pulling the Forsberg was my main memory of Fuhr as a King. I think I saw a video awhile back with Zhamnov doing the move before Forsberg did in the 1994 Olympics, but I suppose doing it in a Gold Medal shootout tops doing it in a regular season game against Boston.

Until recently, I didn't remember that the Kings nearly made the playoffs in 1994-95.

I'm finally re-signed myself that the Kings can trade 2 of the 5 remaining vets.

Kings won't or can't move DD or Kopitar. I think Carter and Quick could move on at this point - especially with Frk coming back - he can slot in Carter's spot and then both Wagner and Andersson don't have to sit. Time to turn the page.

People keep mentioning Kopitar and Doughty as if they are the same age -- they are not. There is no reason DD shouldn't be pretty much the same player he is today right through the end of his contract.

Wish you were right. But Doughty doesn't play a soft game,
Guys who go balls out like he does don't age gracefully.

You have may have missed this from the Stateof the Franchise meeting
– Regarding potentially trading veteran players – Blake said that those players have earned the respect of having a conversation about their future. They have earned talking about their own plans, the team’s plans, etc, and reinforced that point several times, and that any potential move that could be made wouldn’t be made without that conversation first occurring. Said they will take place “at the appropriate time”, as the situations arise.
Notes from LA Kings State Of The Franchise - LA Kings Insider

Unless they want another shot at the cup, they aren't going anywhere

What's the point of trading Quick? Peterson needs a solid backup. Quick is not the old Quick anymore, but he is the best backup we can ask for at this point. Also, he has the ability to go on fire and up his game in the playoffs in case Peterson gets injured. I say keep him. With respect to Carter, he is a nonfactor at this point in his career, but he is not tradeable. Kings would have to put him on the taxi squad to make room for the younger players coming up or buy him out.

Damn I miss Bob's voice
many kings game while Faust is off on a tangent or just flat out not calling the play by play, I still can hear Bobs play by play and its glorious.

"The Forsberg" will always be "the Zhamnov" to me. I was at that game in '95 when Alexei scored 5 topped with that beauty of a goal. Me and my friends talked about that goal for a while.

Kinda miss having this kind of presence on the blueline.

Regehr might have been slow as molasses, but unlike MacDermid, he was not a liability. I wish Mac played more like Regehr, rather than being a guy who chases for a big hit.

The hit on Reeves was my favorite!!!!
