I'm also old enough to have watched the GOAT offensive player play in LA surrounded by what 4 other hall of famers not accomplish what Kopi did twice.

You might be misinterpreting what I'm saying.Which coach, the three very different types that they quit on?
There is something very wrong with the attitude and approach of the players within this organization over the past 8 seasons, and it is perfectly fair to hold the supposed core leadership group responsible for these failures. Kopitar included.
Fun fact: In the three Western Conference Finals and two Stanley Cup Finals series, Anze Kopitar outscored noted third line grinder Dwight King by just two points.I'm also old enough to have watched the GOAT offensive player play in LA surrounded by what 4 other hall of famers not accomplish what Kopi did twice.

Oh, I was just piling on.You might be misinterpreting what I'm saying.
Kopitar is very even keel. A lot like Matty Nordstrom actually. Nothing wrong with that. But you don't want everyone on or around the team to be to have a moderate temperament, or an overly emotional one. You need both. Coaches and even management can be a part that equation.
Not sure what I'm overstating, the value of two-way play?Fun fact: In the three Western Conference Finals and two Stanley Cup Finals series, Anze Kopitar outscored noted third line grinder Dwight King by just two points.
There are all kinds of ways to spin things based on opinion, can't we just appreciate these players for who they are and what they have accomplished without overstating things?
The inability to kill that McSorely penalty really makes the Fraser non-call on Gretzky so fortunate. To be fair, Marty McSorleys stick and a Kings owner got in the way![]()
No, just talking about the Gretzky/Kopitar Cup comparison in your post I quoted. Lots of different ways for us to select specific things to frame our opinions. Not sure what I'm overstating, the value of two-way play?
Great argument -- "mean girls shit". LOL.Doughty is a dipshit while Kopitar is pure class. You don't have to like it, but if they both played 18 seasons for the Kings, why would Drew be considered the "King of Kings": especially while Kopitar wears the "C" for eight seasons at the end of this contract? If Kopitar leaves at the end of this and Drew is made captain, Drew has three seasons of captaincy before his contract ends.
I'm all about what Doughty meant to those championships and I think he is still a stud, but this team has lived and died on Kopitar more than Doughty. Someone has to score and, if it isn't Kopitar, it generally hasn't been anyone else.

Nice strawman there. So we've gone from greatest to a representative. It is a legit argument. Think about it. Who would be chosen as the representative of this franchise? The classy guy or the Doughty?
Maybe the play is to acquire a top 4D + top six foward together. Sergachev/Cernak + Johnson, Dunn + Tarasenko, Carlo/Grzelcyk + Debrusk.
Also a little article on Jake DeBrusk to LA.
Acquiring Jake DeBrusk makes sense for the LA Kings
Any thoughts to trying to get Jazz Hands back?

I think he will test the waters unless Vegas overpays him.He just went on two deep runs on a stacked contender, why would he ever sign here? I wouldn't. He'll either re-sign in Vegas at a discount or sign on a team looking to take a big step next season like the Rags.

Yet you brought up cups and points to make your argument. Nothing about dipshits being ineligible.Being considered the greatest King isn't the same as the best. I started this by saying who would usurp Dave Taylor as the King of Kings.
You're caught up in Doughty being better than Kopitar which I'm not even talking about.
Any thoughts to trying to get Jazz Hands back?
I hold generational in a different aspect
Gretzky
Lemieux
Lindros - if injuries didn’t cut him down
Crosby / Ovi
McDavid - is on track
Kopitar is in my next tier right up there with
Yzermam
Federov
Selanne
Etc.
The thing is Kopitar does not have any where near the support the other guys had. He did it playing all the heavy minutes, pen kills etc with guys like Brown, Iafallo, King etc on his wing. Half the time our second line center situation was a mess
the guy is a true great
