Yet you brought up cups and points to make your argument. Nothing about dipshits being ineligible.

Kind of common sense, isn't it? It's all TBD but the odds would be in Kopitar's favor at this point.

Taylor didn't have his rep because he was the best King: he just held the games played mark and was highly productive while never playing for another team. Great guy as well. Kopitar has the chance to do the same while actually being the Kings all time leading scorer and being a big part of the Cup wins.

I'm not even crapping on Doughty by saying this. Part of it is likability. Kopitar's character is bulletproof.

Martinez did not have a great playoff this year...

he scored some big goals for Vegas so not sure i agree with this. He was on the ice for a fair number of goals against but cannot fault him for a lot of them. Also he has become a blocked shot king.

Not sure I agree with this. I think his price tag has gone up since the start of the playoffs.

I find it pretty amazing Kopitar has 1,000 points with the revolving door of rubbish wingers he's had to play with. Unlike everyone's crush Bergeron who has had elite talent around him, especially the last couple seasons. Kopitar would be a 100 point player easily with Marchand or Pastrnak.

I think we know by now that Kopitar would defer to any top winger on his line, let alone if he had two. We thought he'd explode offensively with Gaborik for a full season, but had his only 90pt year with 9 goal Iafallo and a Brown back from the dead.

Kind of wish they would've kept Stevens. He opened up the offense a little. The talent just wasn't there to score.

Sadly Gaborik was a shell of himself when we got him. Still a upgrade though over what we had.

Alec Martinez does not abide by your absurd statement.

Obviously you are not a golfer.

Gaborik was older when we acquired him than Doughty is now, which is kind of crazy. We talk about Kopitar never having great wingers, but honestly Brown was at one point a pretty great winger. There's a reason they've been together pretty much their whole careers.

Martinez played at a very high level for his stint in Vegas.

The way he played this year was something I never thought he was capable of. He never got close to it in LA.

So your a top team in the NHL and face the Wild and Avs. Your an 18 place team and you face the Leafs and Winipeg. I thought Vegas looked slow and out of gas. Only forwards that had jump was Janmark and Tuch. I understand the covid situation, but which team was in better shape for round 3?

I hope their GM is seeing it differently and makes desperate moves and messes with their chemistry. And Blake, we need to build a team to beat these guys...so get to work.

Alec Martinez was +1 in the playoffs on a team that outscored the opposition 53-46 with a nonexistent powerplay.

The guy shielded his eyes through most of his post-game press conference. He said this was the best team he ever played on. He knows he did not play well.
(and I love the guy)

I don't think it's too surprising. He played pretty well for us as a 25 year old and put up good numbers while throwing those massive hits he always does.

And somehow wound up in Darryl Sutter's doghouse and had his confidence ruined when he was playing well. One of the mystifying decisions he made that led to many of us to question Sutter's antics.

so your argument for poor playoffs is +/- and the fact he shielded his eye in a zoom interview?

Guy had over 70 blocked shots in 19 playoff games and played over 20 min/night. If Vegas's forward group could find the back of the net his +/- would have been very different IMO.

Agree. The +/- stat is the most useless stat for me. The fact the other teams scores while you are on the ice does not reflect on the fact it may NOT of had ANYTHING to do with you.

Wonder if Boston would consider moving Grzelcyk in a package with Debrusk.
Also the final 4 teams this year have big defensemen. Makes me think Strand should get a shot to make the team full time.

No, but I can tell you that that pesky human fly in a Kings uni is back!

Crap. Blake said we need to get better....and then signs Lizotte?

impending response : "Lizotte is a great 4th line player, with speed and tenacity....he's not a problem. He's fine..he's only a 4th line guy and fills a role"

response to impending response:

No, Lizotte can buzzsaw all he wants, but is mostly just a gnat to opponents and they thwart him off easily, or knock him down.
Talk about 'built for ice capades'....that's Lizotte. Likeable guy, but non NHL player. No finish. He'll now be taking a spot from a superior player. 4th line or not, he could only make about 3 of the 32 NHL teams...so why should LA be one? The goal is to get better"

It's been like that for awhile now.

Last year Tampa had Hedman, Sergachev, Cernak, Bogosian, Schenn, Coburn

St. Louis: Pietrangelo, Parayko, Edmundson, Bouwmeester, Bortuzzo

Washington: Carlson, Kempny, Orpik, Niskanen

Our team definitely lacks size in the back end.
