John Hoven saying we'll be trying Kurtis MacDermid as a forward next season.
Are we short on forwards?John Hoven saying we'll be trying Kurtis MacDermid as a forward next season.

That or leave him out of the lineup I guess.John Hoven saying we'll be trying Kurtis MacDermid as a forward next season.
My druthers...Can I still get Iafallo with Byfield at least so he can also have some help in the form of a guy that will buzz around and maybe win a puck battle?
Let's go get Eichel, Tarasenko, Dunn, and Theodore and then sign Dougie Hamilton. f*** it.
Eichel for Turcotte, Bjornfot, 8th overall
Tarasenko and Dunn for Kupari, Fagemo, Walker, and the other second round pick
Theodore for Madden, and this year's third
Arvidsson - Kopitar - Kaliyev
Kempe - Eichel - Vilardi
Iafallo - Byfield - Tarasenko
Moore - JAD - Brown
Theodore - Doughty
Anderson - Hamilton
Dunn - Roy
Quick
Petersen
Four good lines, three good pairs. That's a playoff contender... all it took is three legit stars, three supporting players, and two prospect graduations.

Wish I could be optimistic about MacD on forward, but even guys like Maroon have hands. I like having MacDermid available, but even at forward I don't think he should be a regular.
But, who knows. Maybe MacDermid has better hands than we think, he just didn't do well scooping them off the wall under pressure. He'll at least be on the other side of that equation playing on the wing.
Has a team ever traded good young player to get out of a contract? Closest I can think of was Teravainen to get out from Bickel.
Has there ever been a time when so many teams who want to win now are in Cap hell? Tampa's window will be open for a few more years. Sergachev is the one major asset that 1) has no NTC/NMC clause 2) Has 2 great players (McDonagh and Hedman) who play his position and are immovable 3) can bring back a major haul that can keep the team in contention for a long time. He is basically a surplus asset that they would hate to give up but can afford to do so if the price is right.
Name them.
I agree with you on Brown, and if he has a decent season and wants to play in the playoffs one more time Blake should make it happen, if there are any takers. When his season is over he can work for the Kings in some capacity. Maybe he will be replacing Robitaille in a few years, because it's the Kings' way.My druthers...
Kempe - Kopitar - Kaliyev/Kupari (the Bad Optics line)
Iafallo - Byfield - Moore
Arvidsson - Vilardi - Andersson
Grundstrom (Gunderson) - JAD - Lemieux/Brown
Not ideal, but I would rather see a kid get experience on the top line than another round of Brown. If you can add a Reinhart or other high end RW, terrific. Hoping Turcotte makes it, or makes sending him down as difficult a decision as possible.
Bottom line, is that this upcoming season needs to be the one where the kids up front need to separate themselves from the pack. There are too many bodies deserving of a look, somebody needs to stand up and make their spot permanent or the next guy gets his chance.
Brown needs to announce that this will be his final year, there is no room going forward and the good will circuit will be a positive in what looks to be another year of struggles.
Kempe needs to figure out who he is and cement a position, or he can be dealt.
I really don't see Tampa moving Sergachev. Tampa has too many players with NTCs, and an NTC can help a player decide where he is going to be traded, but not many players stick around when the GM makes it clear you are no longer needed.Has there ever been a time when so many teams who want to win now are in Cap hell? Good post.
The problem is people are making Pawn Stars type offers for him (same with Eichel), forgetting that the Kings aren't the only team in the league. I think Sergachev is wee bit overrated on this forum but there would still be at minimum 5-10 teams who would be in on him, so no he's not being traded straight up for Mikey Anderson or for Tyler Madden and draft pick.

And going over the salary cap. The value on the 1st 2 trades isn’t bad but the Theodore 1 is so bad for Vegas.
Beat me to it! Love this idea. May not work. Should be entertaining!John Hoven saying we'll be trying Kurtis MacDermid as a forward next season.
So I tried to make it work with the cap and this is how it played out:
Eichel for Brown, Maatta, Turcotte, Bjornfot, and LA's first round picks in 2021 and 2023.
Tarasenko and Dunn for Walker, Kupari, Fagemo, and St. Louis' 2021 2nd round pick (back).
Jarry and Pittsburgh's 2021 2nd for Quick at $1.8 million retained.
Sign Dougie Hamilton to a 7-year, $6.8 million contract (that's all the money we had left).
Sign Dunn to a 4-year, $4 million contract.
Arvidsson - Kopitar - Kaliyev
Kempe - Eichel - Vilardi
Iafallo - Byfield - Tarasenko
Grundstrom - JAD - Lizotte
Dunn - Doughty
Anderson - Hamilton
Clague - Roy
MacDermid
Petersen
Jarry
$29,470 left in cap space.
Theodore was in fact unrealistic. If we retained less on Quick, we could sign Hamilton to a bigger contract. Not sure what Dunn realistically gets. Didn't factor in Moore or Lemieux.
Just a fun little thought exercise on how to make the Kings a contender overnight.

But, who knows? Maybe MacDermid has better hands than we think, he just didn't do well scooping pucks off the wall under pressure which is basically the hardest thing today in today's NHL besides score goals. He'll at least be on the other side of that equation playing on the wing.
He's ready to pop in 8 goals, 200 hits.
