No way man. I seriously think people are way undervaluing the cost of taking on a 3 year 15M cap dump.

Then tell me how else we require a top pairing defenseman that is only 23 years old that provides physicality, offence, and has the Pedegree to take over for Doughty as the number one defenseman as he ages out?

I just checked cat friendly as I knew Sergachev’s salary was 4.8 million a year. I didn’t realize that his actual salary in two years is 7.8 million a year. There is no way Tampa can afford to re-sign that guy when that is up.

Knowing this I would definitely play hardball with them and see if a Killorn instead of Johnson swap gets it done.

I'm not saying he isn't exactly what the Kings need; he is.

I'm just telling you that you're undervaluing Johnson's cap dump. It cancels out a lot of Sergachev's value.

And Sergachev isn't some elite player. He's a very good young Dman with pedigree and upside. Maybe he'll turn out to be elite, maybe he won't. As of right now he's basically Jacob Trouba.

IMO if we're taking on Johnson, we sure as hell shouldn't be giving up Turcotte.

I know this is a long shot but man with all the swedes we have and cap space do we have at least a small chance to intice Landeskog to sign here?

Cant see him leaving colorado. I like him but he looked horrible when he was moved off of the mackinnon rantanen line in the playoffs.

What's the chances of Serg Re-signing with the King's? Probably 50/50 at best.
The idea of trading 8oa, plus good assets AND three years of bad salary for a CHANCE of a long term Serg is gambling on too many things.

I'd offer:

JAD + Anderson

for

Johnson + Sergechev

For Tampa:
-Cap issues alleviated in one single move.
-Two cheap, quality young players, with a little upside who step into the NHL right now to replace Johnson/Sergachev.

For LA:
-Potential top pairing LHD Dman we crave.
-Improve for now and the future, without sacrificing the farm.
-Johnson's cap hit fits within our salary structure and shouldn't cause any long term cap issues.
-JAD is redundant for us.

* I know people will think that's an underpayment for Sergachev, but I think people are overvaluing him, and undervaluing the cost to dump Johnson.

* I'm skeptical LA ownership would be willing to do this because of the actual salary (10.3M for this coming season).

So…

AI-Kopitar-Arvidson
Brown-Vilardi-Frk
Moore-Kupari-Kempe
Lemieux-JAD-Wagner/Grunstrom

AA walks and Lizotte picked up by Seattle.

I think fans need to move away from the idea of Frk. I believe his time in LA is done. You also need to include Lias in your lineup. They are not going to protect him if they don’t have plans of playing him.

Id also expect Brown to be down 3rd/4th line if hes not the one chosen by Seattle

They can counteract some of the salary trading Maatta. Even if they retain a mil he only has one year left.

a left hand core of

Sergachev
Anderson
Bjornfot

looks very nice.

Just thinking out loud.

could the reason that we hear no contract talks with AA is because Seattle has him Targetted for the expansion draft?

I like what he brought to the lineup but if I am Seattle I would be looking hard at him

His agent thinks his client is worth more than he actually is. He's also a rather insignificant player in the grand scheme of things. Everything good that he provided completely disappeared in the last couple of months of the season.

Forget Johnson, you do Mikey for Serg straight up. TB does this because Mikey can step right in and be as good or better on the D side of the puck.
Anderson was a o +/- playing top pair on one of the worst teams in the league. Sure, TB loses a long term guy but they're in win now and not many teams can fill that Sergachev hole for them so cheaply and easily.
Plus, Mikey doesn't need protection which means that they can keep another asset. Kings would likely lose Walker but its not like he's the second coming. If they say no then fine, let some other sucker help them out.

Basically exactly what Detroit fans said would happen, but no one wanted to listen because he scored some pretty goals early on and there were a bunch of posts screaming to re-sign him. He is one of those guys that is going to bounce around from bad team to bad team filling cheap 2nd line roles he wouldn't be able to play on decent teams.

Which in a sense sounds perfect for an expansion club to take a shot at a guy like him. But then again, his asking price might be something nobody will be willing to take a risk on.

There is no world in which Tampa accepts this trade. 15+ teams would be lining up to offer something better.

Arvidsson - Vilardi - Andersson

Arvidsson's speed and tenacity would do wonders for those two.

Can I still get Iafallo with Byfield at least so he can also have some help in the form of a guy that will buzz around and maybe win a puck battle?
