It says "But several decisions with higher-round selections came across as gambles that many felt should have been reserved for later on."

But reading the text, the guy seems high on the first 6 picks (like we should) and starts to be concerned by reaching with Merilainen in the 3rd round (like we should)

Maybe it's a typo and he meant "later" instead of "higher"?

It was a good read but usually, I would not put a lot of stock in someone that says "that kid was a huge reach in the 6th round"... I know he didn't exactly said that but that seemed like what he was trying to say (since he's high on the first 6 picks)

The "reaching" notion diminishes every round and becomes almost non-existent towards the end of the draft (unless you pick someone who has no business being drafted by a NHL team of course)

Overall, the guy seems pretty high on the Sens draft even if it didn't look like it in his intro

Act like a President and make sxxx up! :)

I have come here to praise our beautiful prospects, they are the best prospects the world has ever seen, we have 3 of our wonderful prospects scheduled to play today, but i am so proud to say that one of the great prospects Mr. Chlapik has decided that in the best interests of his fellow team mates that he will not play in todays game, what a noble thing to let his team mates go ahead and play. Another of our best and wonderful players is playing for Graz 99ers in Austria, what a great name, a wonderful name the best name in hockey. Also our third prospect is playing for Vasterviks in Sweden. It is wonderful how our great prospects are spreading the word of our great team all over the world, we have the greatest, the best team in the world. We are the Champions.

(all the prospects teams lost)

Mads Søgaard has been loaned to Esbjerg Energy in the Danish Metal Ligaen. Esbjerg is 3rd in the league and play today at 1 pm but I would imagine that Søgaard likely isn’t starting.

Esbjerg released a goalie to accomodate Sogaard see link below

In another Liga game Jukerit without Abramov still injured i assume are losing 9-0 in the 2nd period, of note Anton Lundel (20 yrs old) who is on loan from Florida has 2g 3a so far

Looks like Lundell's skating has improved tremendously since last season and it's making him so much more effective.

Liiga has skating stats and Lundell has had the most distance skated in almost every single game he's played. He moves constantly.

Actually he is third in distance skated this season, Flames's Välimäki #2.

Great positioning, right where most of the goals in the NHL are scored within a few feet from the net, this guy is turning into a scoring machine gem.

Certainly looks every bit like a goal scoring winger who can score anywhere from 5 feet to 35 feet away from the net.

I cautiously liked this pick when it was made. I like it quite a bit more now!

I would be more impressed with Jarventie's production if Ilves wasn't scoring over 4G per game (most in the league).

He looks like he has the talent, IQ and tools to be a good player, but I think his stats may be a bit inflated right now.

That's fair enough but he's part of the core that's making them a good team that scores so much. Might be some inflation of stats but they're still mostly primary points.

I haven't delved deep into this but I would think players who have their stats drastically inflated are generally guys picking up second assists. Don't know for sure though.

Jarventie is an 18 year old playing on a line with 2 20 year olds, and he's producing just as much/more than them. He's on their 3rd line, and 2nd PP unit.

If he were getting more than 12 minutes a game, and getting a prime offensive role, I'd agree he may be getting his stats inflated by Ruotsalainen's 21 points, but as it is, none of his points have come from him. His linemates are both 20 years old, and have 14 and 4 points (other linemate had 8, none since Hayton took his spot).
