Sens fans in nearby Gatineau, PQ must be excited about the progress of Vitali Abramov. The 22-year-old Russian winger was a stand-out for the Gatineau Olympiques during 3 seasons spanning 2016 to 2018. Last season in Belleville, he was 18-23 for 41 pts in 51 games, and an impressive 18+/-. Indeed, throughout his career Abramov has put great +/- numbers.

He is off to a terrific start in the Finnish league so far with 7 points in five games.

I would love to see Abramov teamed with fellow Russians Dadonov and Anisimov - a Russian connection line! Dadonov and Anisimov would be great mentors for the young Abramov.

Brannstrom's game today postponed

SCL Tigers in quarantine as a precaution

Due to a positive Covid-19 case at the SCL Tigers and the pending response from the responsible cantonal medical office, the entire 1st team and staff go into quarantine as a precautionary measure out of consideration for the health of all involved.
The game against EV Zug on Friday evening, October 30, 2020, will not take place and will be postponed. When the game will be rescheduled is currently still open.

Are Thomson and Kleven much more likely to develop than Tychonick, or are they just newer and shinier?

They've floundered less since being drafted but, as it stands, I'd have them all in the same tier. I do think Kleven and Thomson are more transferable to a bottom pair than Tychonick is, particularly Kleven, but thats nitpicking at this point. If we get two regulars from that group, even if they're both just bottom pairing guys, I'd consider that a win.

Thomson may end up in the bottom pairing, but he should get extra time on the PP with his thundering, one-timer shots. In fact, one commentator suggested that Thomson possesed the best shot among the entire 2019 draft class.

His shot is a rocket, absolutely, but think of how many bottom pair guys PK. Will Thomson be able to hold his own there? If not, his TOI will likely be bottom-pair tier anyways. Bottom pair guys can be useful, for sure, but I also think he will need to really earn his PP time beyond just having a great shot. Brannstrom, Wolanin, and Sanderson will all likely have a shot at the PP before he does (not in terms of fit, but in terms of NHL readiness), and if they play well it will be very crowded, given Chabot is a lock going forward, by the time Thomson is even playing regular minutes.

Having a cannon of a shot is useless when you don’t have the ability to get it off.

See: Ceci, Cody.

The amount of double clutching, shots into shin pads, and shots 2 feet wide of net are very similar.

How much have you seen of Thomson? he gets the puck on net quite a bit. He's a much better goal scorer than Ceci.

4 games this year, World juniors and U-18, handful of games last year and WHL.

Ceci scored the exact same way in junior, 17 and 19 goal seasons. Booming shot in junior where you can get by on tools.

IMO he's a better prospect overall, but I don't expect high offense either. He has a way better shot than Ceci.

The Sens may have drafted Ceci for all the wrong reasons. He is an Ottawa native, who played much of his junior career with the 67s. The lesson there is that just because the prospect is local, that doesn't justify drafting him.

Lassi Thomson is too young to write-off as a Ceci-like mistake.

The lesson should be, "If the defenceman gets by on tools and has suspect hockey I.Q, stay away"
