I figure most people have forgotten about Markus Nurmi (I know I had), but he's actually having a pretty decent year in Finland.
5 goals, 2 assists in 9 games. He's 22 years old, which isn't over the hill for someone someone tall and lanky who was obviously drafted to be a long shot prospect.

Ottawa relinquished his rights by not signing him last summer.

With all of our new additions I kind of had forgotten about him.

Thanks for the update. I thought he had been let go by Ottawa.

EDIT: Apparently he has. ^^

Is he playing top league?

Yup, has been for a few years now. He’s been up and down statistically if I recall... he had a very good year two years ago but then regressed a bit last year. I wouldn’t be so surprised to see him come around at some point as a 4th liner, if only for a cup of tea.

EDIT: I was one year behind. He had a pretty solid year last year, bad the year before, and good the year before.

Have a feeling Maxence Guenette gets invited to Team Canada’s 40 man camp
Hopefully.

Not sure he’d be able to have earned an invite with the few games played by anyone thus far. He’d have needed to play his way to an invite, not sure that’s possible with COVID.

He wasn’t among the 14 guys that were invited to Summer camp in June on D.

Barron
Byram
Cormier
Drysdale
Guhle
Harley
Hunt
Korczak
Millman
O’Rourke
Power
Robertson
Schneider
Spencer

With Covid, I don’t think there is much chance he gets a look unfortunately, the December camp usually only has 30 guys as well.

Yup, didn’t end up making it.

On another note Ridly Greig made it.

Only prospect due to play today is Philipe Daoust with Moncton.

Prospects Chlapik and Alsing season is on hold at the moment as the leagues they play in Czech and Austria is on hold because of Covid, Austria may restart next week.

Video on Sens D

The video is very amateur, and much of the commentary borders on childish. However his overall point is valid: The Sens have the best collection of blue line prospects in the NHL. Assuming Brannstrom successfully shifts to the right side, here are some potential future pairings:

Chabot - Brannstrom
Sanderson - JBD
Kleven - Thomson

Thats just one of many different combinations involving those players and other D-men in the organization. It will be interesting if Sanderson and JBD find chemistry playing together during the coming year at UND.

Video on Sens D

I think only one of Brannstrom or Thomson makes the team & the other becomes trade bait, if Ottawa does not draft Schmidt in the 2021 draft, Guennette could be a future 3rd pairing RD for them. I prefer Thomson on that 2nd pairing RD spot, but at the moment I think Brannstrom is a head of Thomson, however, there is still some time for Thomson to improve & challenge for it. There are five 1st rd defencemen below & if they are lucky enough to draft another in Schmidt RD next draft, that would be six 1st rd picks as defencemen on a future roster. Love the left side.

Chabot - JBD
Sanderson - Brannstrom/Thomson/Guenette
Kleven - Schmidt (2021 draft)

- IMO Guenette is a dark horse to challenge Brannstrom & Thomson, he's got good size, plays a good 200' game, is good on the transition & puts up some offensive pts. He could be a decent player for them & will have to wait his turn to see if the 1st rders ahead of him make it or not. I would move one of Brannstrom or Thomson to acquire Guenther RW at next yr's draft.

Guenette looks promising, but he has yet to play against MEN. Both Brannstrom and Thomson are playing in MEN's leagues, in Switzerland and Finland, respectively. So far, Brannstrom is looking real good, Thomson not so much.

If possible, I would hope the Sens add Guenette to the Belleville line-up to test his abilities at a higher level.

So I was looking up the Moncton Wildcats game to see if Philippe "Mark Hoffman" Daoust scored (no points on his team's two goals if you're curious), and I notice that the team they're playing has a guy named Robert Orr. I wonder if his parents knew they'd put him into hockey.

Philipe Daoust scores early in 3rd tied 3-3

Daoust's team Moncton won 4-3 in OT, Daoust was -2 with 1g and his FOW was 8/18
