Weather threads are the true "get to know your fellow poster" threads :)

Well, one step below a full blown political thread at least.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet, but I feel like it needs to be mentioned in any discussion about climate change. If you want to save the environment, reduce your carbon footprint, decrease deforestation, etc, etc, the answer is simple. Quit having kids. I always chuckle when someone wants to preach about climate change but they have three kids at home. Overpopulation is the number one threat to the environment but nobody wants to talk about it. 10 billion people driving Prius's will destroy the environment faster than 1 billion people driving Hummers.

Till the day all these tree huggers start living off the grid and not getting into their nice fancy cars or live in these nice warm house's and work in these nice big building are nothing but hypocrites. It is sad how everyone wants to save the planet and all that bs yet they are not willing to do what really needs to be done but they can sure preach save the planet.

I used to have a Hummer. It was a bugger to find parking. Then I sold it.

To be fair, as societies improve they tend to drop in birth rate. The ones that are having huge families are doing so for a variety of reasons related to living in poverty (an oversimplification, but trying to keep it short). What you're suggesting is not simple at all.

 No guy who selfishly commits Genocide on a universal scale isn't the "good guy" of anything.

Thanks, That was a long time ago now but she did get banged up pretty bad. All good though nothing permanent other than the mental anguish of losing a perfectly good Chevette.

Glad to hear it but very scary stuff. Its one of the reasons that I like big cars with lots of steel between me and whatever is on the road--usually very bad drivers.

Moose hits are like hitting a brick wall.

Another small car story: My son was hit head on by a drunk driver in a stolen car. He was driving my wife’s Smart car. I didn’t think you could shorten a Smartie. Drunk Driver 1. Smart Car 0. Total write off of a brand new car.

Titanium cage saved him from any major damage but because there is no crumple zone in a Smartie so he wrenched the shit out of his back. Had to quit his part time job, couldn’t do physical work for about 6 months and lost his last season of Midget A hockey which had just started. Worse case was the car was uninsured and the owner didn’t have a pot to piss in. Driver fled the scene on foot.

Moral of the story don’t get into a hit and run by a drunk driver in a stolen car with no insurance. Your left holding the entire bag.

My wife now drives a lifted F350 with an iron front plow bumper......(seriously she doesn’t lol)

kidding. of course not. though wasn't it just random obliteration of half the population and not specific genocide? not to justify it though.

Not so black and white imo. The earth at 3.5-4 billion is in way better shape then it is with 7-8 billion. Id imagine alien planets would be similar. Its a real do the ends justify the means type discussion.

Wages would sky rocket with half the work force gone, more opportunities/promotions. More resources to go around. Housing costs would fall. Less traffic. Not having to wait in lines etc.

The flip side is 3.5 billion people get turned into ash.

I think that's why so many people liked Thanos as a villain, there is some reasoning to his madness he isn't just generic super villain wants to take over/destroy the world

There's no reason, it's selfish assumption. Also, everyone who is "snapped" is remember by those who are left behind, that's murder, unless you're a soulless monster.

That's the whole do the ends justify the means element I brought up. People in 2019 would hate it but the people of 2050, 2100 would benefit from it and not really have any first hand pain/grief.

Thanos even tells this to Gamora. After a single generation her planet is at peace and prosperity, everyone has full resources and kids don't goto bed hungry anymore.

Its like in Terminator 2. Can you justify killing Miles Dyson if it prevents judgement day and saves the human race? Is one life worth it for the greater good? Thanos is that but amplified to the billions.

Cool and wet weather forecast in a couple of days. Wouldn't be surprised to see snow in the mountains. If not in the Canadian Rockies, then definitely to the south. And I wouldn't be surprised if the snow pushed eastward from there.

And just as a heavy moisture system is pushing up the American mid west all the way to Minnesota n the great Lakes.

The systems collide this weekend when I'm driving through the area
