I love how you peeps keep unmasking yourselves

I didn't single anybody out and yet you felt the need to vocalize how you felt victimized.

There is no escape, you become what you hate.

 I love how you are an instant judge of someone’s person. I am the biggest centrist there is. The alt left and the alt right are both the biggest bunch of ass clowns there are and both a menace to society.

Perhaps you should read Madeline Albrights fantastic new book “Fascism, A Warning”, paying special attention to the last chapter then look at yourself in the mirror.

I don't tend to take people who simply expect name dropping a book title to be some kind of authoritative argument seriously: either argue or don't, name-dropping just makes you look vain.

You used the term alt-left unironnically, that says it all. Of course there are idiots on the left.

Here we go..... I must have triggered you unironnically. Maybe you are an alt-left lunatic which is no better than an alt-right lunatic.

Read the book Mr High and Mighty. You might learn something about yourself in between casting judgement on others and being the moral champion on social media.

Now you use the word trigger in an attempt to offend and bring in social media for no reason?

Keep digging  You may not be honest but at least you are transparent.

Ah I see you edited your post to try to sound more intelligent after the fact.

I don’t need to argue with you about the intent of my post as I know the intent of my post while you are taking a knee jerk and stereotypical assumption to my alt left comment.

The alt left and alt right are both a bunch mindless pricks. Take it for what it is and stop trying to make something into what you want to to be rather than what it is.

And read the book.

You do seem rather triggered on a social media platform.

Enjoy your day and try the Center lane between casting your stones at people you don’t know. You might learn something about people rather than judging them.

But what about her emails?!?!

Don’t know and don’t care.

Give the book a read. It’s a good treatise on the danger of the far left and the far right and the danger of losing the rational middle. History went down that road once not that long ago and she lived it. She has a unique perspective on where the world is heading now.

So instead of being condescending maybe you want to give her book a twirl.

Who could be surprised that you would respond with something like that.

If you were interested in anything beyond scoring cheap laughs on the internet with your less than subtle brand of sarcasm, there are multiple places where you could educate yourself. I know you won’t bother, but here’s a link to help get you started. It suggests some possible factors that could influence a decrease in precipitation over various regions of the globe resulting in the drier conditions that can lead to forest fires etc.

You will note that as I stated in the post that prompted your simplistic ridicule, there is little firm knowledge of and/or agreement among scientists regarding the many complex factors affecting the environment of our planet and how they in turn may/may not work together to impact the weather we experience. You will further note that phrases such as ‘there have been many arguments’ and ‘there is little agreement’ litter any scholarly publication on this matter. It’s only among the Gores and Trumps of the world that you find the sort of dogmatism and ignorance that demands possession of the facts for their ‘side’ alone.

Dr Rind states it much more succinctly ... ‘Rarely are there simple answers to climate problems, as the multiple feedbacks can lead to a variety of results. Therefore, to understand what has happened in the past, and what will happen as greenhouse gases continue to accumulate in the atmosphere, requires a familiarity with the various aspects of the system, utilizing everything we have available — observations, theory, and computer modeling. It requires interacting with atmospheric scientists, oceanographers, specialists in polar processes, cloud physicists, hydrologists, land surface biologists, atmospheric chemists, computer scientists, etc. To understand the potential impacts of climate change requires further interactions, with agronomists, economists, demographic specialists, etc. As you can see, the climate system and climate change is a great integrator of knowledge, and requires a multi-disciplinary approach.’

NASA GISS: Science Briefs: Do Variations in the Solar Cycle Affect Our Climate System?

Here you talk about weather (and a discrete phenomenon like rainfall) and in your previous post you refer to climate. To which one do you refer when you write, "little firm knowledge of and/or agreement among scientists."

It makes a difference because modeling the impact of certain changes (e.g., increased concentration of greenhouse gasses) on the former remains significantly more difficult vs. the latter.

Its interesting how "polarized" the World has become. The political center is melting away (pardon the weather pun) and the last time we saw this phenomena to this extent was back in the 1930's. That should be warning enough to all of us, no matter where you are on the political spectrum. I wonder if this time the extremism is going to take us all down....for good.

It is a big worry because we don’t seem to learn from history but rather seem doomed to repeat it.

The US / China tensions and similar status of those 2 countries in time are reminiscent of the rapid rise of a united and Imperial Germany in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s and the threat the one global but declining power England felt from them. The result was a massive arms buildup, a myriad of complex treaties and agreements, attempts to box Germany in and the First World War which shapes our world even today.

Trumps disdain of the media and his use of social media to speak to people directly and often is reminiscent of the Nazi’s disdain for the media and putting a radio into each home so they could bypass the media and speak via propaganda to people directly and often. The result was the Second World War.

A Harvard expert on global conflict recently pegged a massive global world war at 1 chance in 3 in the next 20 years.

Climate change seems so much more humdrum and blasé when compared with global thermonuclear war.

Oh and it stopped raining! Dog didn’t get as wet as I thought in our morning walk!

We all thank you for not quoting the 6 scrolled pages of it...

But yeah, I agree. Its suitably in cartoon format. The dumbing down of complex information so that even Barbie thinks she saw it real good.

That being said, communication of complex scientific concepts remains a challenge (even for something like climate change that has received plenty of air-time), and the general public often does not understand the key takeaways. Not to sound like an ass, but as a scientist, the significant amount of half-truthes and misrepresentations posted in this thread clearly demonstrates that.

I don't disagree, but I welcome discussion, as always, and the Science HAS been politicized. So that we have Politicians, equally as informed, making general statements, and writing legislation on incomplete understanding. Anybody posting here with any misinformation isn't really harming anybody. The peril is that people in high office making big decisions have operating dictums based on half truths. That was the point of my post that you quoted. I stopped short of saying Climate Barbie (Canadians get that reference automatically) opps, I did it. ;)

Anyway if you wanted to take that to pm we could. too much in it for the discussion to occur here.
