if Cale Makar did not exist, Fox would be the talk of the town right now, what Fox did this year was as impressive as Makar IMO...
People also seem to ignore that Fox is good defensively as well just because their salty he forced his way to the Rangers. He’s not only an offensive d..

I think it's arguably more impressive because Fox lacks the pure athleticism of Makar - he had to rely primarily on his smarts.

Kreider not injured, just sick, which is great news.

It'll be awesome if Blashill keeps the JVR - Hughes - Kane unit together for awhile as they looked strong when they formed in the 3rd period. Kane and JVR reuniting like when they were teenagers along with the teenager himself.

I also love Blashill's attitude here. He expects to win gold and he's holding them accountable to those expectations. Too many of our prior coaches would have been fine with the platitudes about the long travel, little practice time, etc. to excuse what was an ok effort at best, but he expects more of this group, which is a nice change in approach.

It sounds like Jack really really wants to play with his brother Quin.

I bet they link up when Jack becomes a UFA

He hasn't faced much as the US is carrying the play pretty easily in the 3rd but Demko looks really composed out there. Calm, no wasted movement, tracking the puck well.

I'd prefer Demko as the starter for us in this tournament.

What's the point of starting Schneider? Is he that much better than Demko? Is he even a better player?

Demko could play a role for this team in best on best tournaments in upcoming years. If this tournament helps him going into next season to grab the starting role for the Canucks, its good for our goalie depth. We know Schneider is a very average option, and is only on the team due to the lack of options.

I dont know where Jack's little brother is expected to go draft-position wise, but if it isn't unreasonably high I could see NJ making a move for him

Not only that, demko Is probably already better than Schneider

Ah the 2007 World Juniors in Sweeden, Leksand I believe. That was a fun team.

USA looks like the best team this year. Time for that gold medal that hasnt been won in decades.

Well there were some guys both healthy and with contract before still have found other reasons not to go.

The point isn't that it guarantees he'll play. It just means two of the most frequent reasons (contract status, injury) won't apply. He certainly could choose not to play for other reasons.

Kinda yeah, but those two are the only reasons I understand, making credits for college, visit by dentist would be very disappointing for me, no means no so it doesn’t matter in the end. On NJ board people think Atkinson might be injured, in that case I would be ok with Foligno as well. Just hard to see elite players go separately across the ocean to Slovakia, situation pretty unusual for American team in any given year.

Atkinson said he was healthy in his exit interview. He has a young kid around 10 months old though, so there's that. Granted, he played last year when his wife was like 7 months pregnant so you never know.
