Sounds like it will be another WJC followed by a bottom ten finish where this team only has 2-3 prospects in the tournament.

Other than Mikey DiPietro, it's so long since the Canucks have had an impact player on Team Canada, I'm almost ambivalent on how they do. In the past few tournament the Americans and Finns have had more future Canucks playing for them.

Also I don’t see any problem having only 2-3 players in WJC when the core of this team are so young.

After re-watching some of those Tyler Madden NCAA highlights, I'm really starting to wonder when he signs, and how much time he's going to need in the minors. Already has NHL wheels as far as I can see, and if there's a kid who could make a splash in pro hockey at 160 pounds, it's Madden.

Again, it really doesnt matter when your core players are all under the age of 24, it's not like there is no future for the team.
You are putting too much stock in to a 2 weeks junior tournament where players dont even get to practice together that much

How is proving that a claim is inaccurate, being negative? I just said bullshit.

Guy makes a number claim that is false and you imply that it is close enough to the truth, so it stands, in cases where it suits you?

If I had said:
"No, Hodgy, I think the number of selections is 5-6 every year", then would you also not care? I am sure you don't use this type of rounding in your potato list.

It was a great response with facts given. Their were a lot of false claims with original post. The strength of the canuck young talent has been shown from numerous neutral sources this year. Some prospects rise some fall like every team. Woo and others are down while Madden and others are up. The development of Hughes, Demko and Gaudette at NHL level is the best news for the organization. The only issue is I do not see a push next year from our prospects.

Thanks for doing the leg work on this. I had wondered how we compared to other teams. Sometimes I think we focus too much on just Team Canada and ignore the other countries where we have had good representation. Especially the US where Brackett’s picks come in to play. We’ve done really well with the US guys.

Too bad for Jett Woo. I don't see him as an inferior choice to half of those selected, and the team decided to roll with a couple of 2020 undrafted guys. WJC selections are always hotly contested and every year there's surprises and snubs. I'm sure he will use it as motivation. I think there's also a pretty good chance Canada could miss his presence and relative experience against bigger teams on the RHS. He has a knack for separating players from pucks, and I'm not sure who on that D can do that any better.

Remember last two years, Hughes had a terrible WJC and Petterson's was relatively pedestrian as well, and there was a lot of hand wringing on these boards. The takeaway is that the tourney is fun to watch but it portends little about the future.

I mean we are also closer to being a bottom 10 team(3 points) than the lead in the division(5points); heck the 2 points between us and Vegas is the same between us and being 4th last in the confrence. So us finishing bottom
10 isn’t as crazy as you make it seem.

20 year old players are only allowed if their 20th birthday begins on the start date of the tournament, or if they turn 20 throughout the tournament.
