True. Heinola is a gamer don't get me wrong but he excels in certain areas. Areas that are likely to be otherwise occupied for a few years. Unless we decide to trade Morrissey to New York for a bag of pucks and one of those mini souvenir statue of liberty paper weights.

Watch Chevy trade Roslo or Ehlers to move up a spot in the second round tomorrow!:sarcasm:

Now you are just being bitter...

I have moved on to enjoying good rum...

Enjoying any heat if it ever comes...

The Blue Bombers...

Manitoba walleyes...

And Morrissey is not going anywhere...

;)

Oh for sure. Kid puts up points. But his game is... specific. Much like Niku's. I'm not sure we are equipped for those kinds of players, especially in abundance.

I think the same people that watched Josh Morrissey probably watched this kid and made some comparisons. Granted one guy was a little more physical then the other but I bet we hear some comparisons in the next few days from Chevy and Co.

I am bitter. Our 1RD just got trade away for peanuts. And I'm a Rider fan.

Those same guys that watched Stanley? I'm all on board for loving a pick just for the sake of him being ours. But I'm never going to love a pick I wasn't pumped on before we had him.

I still don't think that pick was as horrible as everyone seems to make it. I thought he had a good first pro year. I think he will have a really good 2nd pro year. The odd thing it wouldn't surprise me to see these 2 on the 5/6 pairing in 2 years time

So who do we like tomorrow? I think they should go for some home run types at C. Lots of "little" centers from the OHL available. Lavoie is there. All those USHL guys too.

Might as well just roll a top 6 of lefties and gun for Savoie.

Yeah but it's not open ice over here. You have to be able to play in small spaces at speed. How many lefties play the right side proficiently at the NHL level. the answer is not many. These kids aren't an exception. There's a reason kids play their hand side, it's because it makes things easier. Even MoJo and Trouba, two D that are exceptional players at their positions have commented on how hard it is to play the opposite side at the NHL level. Niku and Heinola are not going to break the mold.

I hear you. I also worry that in 4 years we’ll get pushed around if the d is:

Jmo Niku
Samberg Heinola
Stanley someone

There are guys that play on their off side so it is possible. Phaneuf, vatanen, sanheim, Brodie, etc. Pesce even played on his off hand in the playoffs. I think you need to be good on your backhand and able to think the game at a high level to do it. If it’s what you’re comfortable with it there are some pluses to go with the negatives.
