What I'm worried about is Mojo, Samberg and Niku look to be the future so who do we move and lose value on when this kid is coming up? IF* he comes up.
Since he plays right d nobody. They’re all left shots but the fins both prefer the right side.

I’m really not worried about that. I’m more excited about having a good chance of at least one legit top 4 LHD between Samberg, Niku and Heinola.

I think Samberg makes it. Its the other two I'm worried about. Plus Chisholm and Vallati aren't dead either.

I was thinking today that Maurice is going to do a Petan on Niku. If so, there's your candidate.

Samberg and Niku may or may not ever turn out to be NHL d-men. With Samberg, Heinola and to a lesser extent Vallati, Chisholm and Gawanke the hope if that atleast 1 will be a legitimate NHL'r, good to have several lottery balls.

Yeah but it's not open ice over here. You have to be able to play in small spaces at speed. How many lefties play the right side proficiently at the NHL level. the answer is not many. These kids aren't an exception. There's a reason kids play their hand side, it's because it makes things easier. Even MoJo and Trouba, two D that are exceptional players at their positions have commented on how hard it is to play the opposite side at the NHL level. Niku and Heinola are not going to break the mold.

We've been complaining about our D depth since the beginning of time - I'm not going to assume his success would cause us grief.

Question is...
Only 3 right handed shots in the system (one a 26 y.o "prospect") after Byfugluen who is nearing retirement. No bluechippers.

I'd rather have gambled on a C. We have LD for days. Especially puck movers.

MoJo can complain and still excel...

Trouba can just go to Coney Island and suck on a dog...

Yeah but that's the type of player it takes to excel at that role. Im sorry but Heinola is not that player. Not in the NHL. I'm being a downer but I just dont believe in that pick.

I'm in the BPA in the first round, always. You can always trade that player later to fill a roster spot if need be.

Except those trades hardly ever happen. It appears to be tough trading a winger for a C or D.
