No. Fans dont want to pay Kreider 7+M per year for 7+ more years. He is a better player than Hayes and deserves at least the same contract. Kreider making over 7M a year gets in the way of the cap during the prime Kakko years. If Kreider was 24, this is a different conversation.

Yes. To me, the return on Kreider is secondary to not giving him that contract. The return still needs to be good since he's a key piece (unlike Vesey/Namestnikov who I would be fine with just giving away for cap space) but I'm more concerned with avoiding the next contract for him.
