It's possibly 99% sure that they are taking Hughes at #1, but I could honestly see this as a real reason to not make that kind of a trade yet. Yes, both are NYR next season no matter what, but do they hold onto Buch if they take Hughes? Wonder if that would make Lias available in that kind of a trade.

I think it's more likely the hold up might be the other teams wanting to see who is available for their pick

Jacob Trouba thread was already at 43 Pages less than 24 hours after the trade. Only a few other teams boards have threads with that many pages and those threads are up for days and weeks to get that amount.

Sometimes I go to check out other teams' prospect threads, to see if they're doing something cool that i need to steal (they aren't, I'm one of three people on the site that uses tables and caley doesn't even really try anymore).

Anyway, I open their prospect thread and the first post is from like November 2017. We go through six or seven in a year. This board is...active.

no one has the cap room to do anything. every player is making too much for the cap, every player has NMC NTC. Nothing can get done.

or even better...announce the kreider trade right before we pick...gary bettman "we have a trade to announce...the new york rangers have traded..." so many rangers fans would instantly die of heart attacks that it would make thanos jealous lol
