Will be curious to see if Rutherford moves down in such a scenario. I can see him not being a fan of Kaliyev and other teams being so; mind you, I can also see him being all about him.

Mckenzie mentioned that some teams had him as high as 7 and others as low as the 40's. Seems like quite the polarizing player. Seems to fit JR's MO. High potential offensive guy that other teams might be scared to pick.

the hockey writers consensus mock draft in the draft board, has us taking York over Harley (I would be happy with that)....the biggest surprise for me was doro going at 18. he could be worth it but to me it's a bit risky pick. imo

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Shades of Sprong. Although whether he'd have taken Sprong at 21OA, we don't know...

Anyway, according to the Molinari article I posted in the Salary Cap thread, there's a group of 5-6 guys they've really got their eyes on; they've run a few scenarios on when it would analytically make sense to move up, and also he said that if you get to two picks away from your own and the 5/6 guys you like are all there, that's when you start thinking of trading down.

I like the fact Knight seems to be going before 21 in almost every mock/prediction I have seen out there.

I have a good feeling about Friday night. I think a good player, someone we NEED, will be there at 21. The best of both worlds.

I really hope BMac and the crew dont spoil the picks before they happen. Tsn is given the picks in advance and for some reason decide to remove the suspense.

I don’t really like Kaliyev much at all but to your point months ago about high CHL scoring Fs— his is at such an elite level where I think he’s gotta be heavily considered if available.

Ain't nothin' wrong with that.

With who he had going after (Kaliyev, McMichael, Poulin, Brink, Pelletier) I wouldn’t like that pick.

I think I like Suzuki slightly more than McMichael and Pelletier but yeah not the others.

Think it was in the prospects thread but we were discussing the merits of just taking the next highest scoring CHL forward based on research from a Canucks blog.

Oh right, yeah. That's true. I wouldn't object if they did take Kaliyev.

That said, I'd object even less if the scouts were like "Hey, this guy's scored only a bit less but is super well rounded, let's take him"... as long as we don't go super off the board, there'll be interesting guys there.
