What's Boldys time line looking like? 1 year of college hockey and he's ready or will he need a couple years?

I don't think he will *need* more than 1 year, but with college players it is more about their own aspirations and comfort level. Some love the college lifestyle, others just want to get to the NHL as quickly as possible. My guess is Boldy will be one and done however, as whoever drafts him will probably be offering him a contract after his freshman season.

If he's a one and done and plays less than 10 games his contract slides, which would be a big bonus.

The 2nd round looks good for us. Kolyachonok+Korczak would be great options. I also like Afanasyev.

Even the 3rd round, Puistola i like. And Dorofeyev is a bit lower than expected, but i do have concerns with his pacing and softness. However, at that point, everyone has warts, i take that gamble on his skill.

If Warren can slip 10 more spots to 102, i'd call that a great draft. Then pick up Fensore/Aaltonen late round, ooo boy.

Ill admit that I haven’t been following this years’ draft nearly as closely as in previous years, but what do you guys think of Seider?

Would he be a good pick at 10 in your opinion.

He would be an interesting pick. Not the most immediately attractive choice and could be a bit risky (in terms of leaving higher talent on the table) but could also be a real riser in the next few years. I'd be ok with the pick, though somewhat lament who we left on the board.

I like Seider as much as Broberg or any other d-man not named Byram... but at 10 there's a wealth of forwards I like much better.

Kimelman has us taking Podkolzin in his mock draft

Only because he thinks Podz is too good to pass up, not because he has any inside info on our preference. I'd be gobsmacked if we picked Podz out of the guys expected to be around at 10.

If I'm trying to read between the lines here, they have Broberg ranked higher than 10, and fully expect him to be off the board, based on all the smoke about Edmonton's interest in him

According to Kuzma Zegras/Krebs are top on their wish list, but this is the same guy that said they would run to the podium to select Vilardi in 2017 and Dobson in 2018 if they were available.

Also, find it strange he has never mentioned Newhook once in his articles despite being brought in for extended interviews.

:help: Please EDM/ANA take Broberg before us

What a weird quote.

"There are a lot of defensemen that we like. If that guy is there at 10 we'll be taking him."

So are there a LOT of defensemen they like enough to take at 10, or is there just ONE guy? I can't de-code the guy's lack of articulateness enough to tell what his actual intentions are.

I think he is referring to Byram. This is his attempt at a smoke screen but he can’t articulate it properly

I’d venture that Krebs is coming here. I’m good with that
Seems like it. Not my first choice but a really solid and well rounded prospect to add to the group. He also has those intangibles that management salivate over. I’m not worried about this draft as it seems like it will be Zegras (awesome but unlikely), Boldy, Krebs or Newhook. All fine choices

So assuming the following 7 players would be high on the Canucks list but just not being talked about because they won't be there at 10:

Hughes
Kakko
Byram
Dach
Turcotte
Cozens

Adding these 2 players (Zegras + Krebs), that is 9 players in total that, presumably, Vancouver would "like". I also have to hope that Boldy and Newhook are high on their list as well, given feedback we've heard recently. That makes 11 players that we *should* like, of which at LEAST 2 must be available at 10 for us.

If the above is true (and it may not be), then we shouldn't need to look at a D.
