Was playing around with the draft simulator and somehow got this pipedream of a scenario

10: D BOWEN BYRAM VANCOUVER
40: D VILLE HEINOLA LUKKO
71: D TOBIAS BJORNFOT DJIRGARDENS
102: C VALENTINE NUSSBAUMER SHAWINIGAN
133: RW PATRICK MOYNIHAN U.S. U-18
156: RW COLE SCHWINDT MISSISSAUGA
164: D ALEXANDER YAKOVENKO MUSKEGON
180: C ADAM NAJMAN BENATKY
195: RW KEVIN WALL CHILLIWACK

Talk about rebuilding your defence prospect cupboard....
Whenever I do it my first three picks are always Turcotte, Lavoie/Seider, Seider/Bjornfot.

Until the last one where Byram was available. The rest panned out as usual.

I know it's stupid but I feel uncomfortable with Caufield at 10.
He's such a risky pick. I'd prefer Boldy to him for sure.

Who has said the Canucks are high on Broberg?

Sat Shaw has mentioned it on 0650. There's also a growing sentiment that Broberg is the top d-man after Byram. Corey Pronman in his mock links Edmonton, us and Philly to Broberg. Here's his write-up on the Canucks picking Caufield at #10, with Edmonton picking Broberg already:

If the draft plays out this way, I could see Broberg or Caufield as the pick for the Canucks. The Canucks would likely prefer to get the top defenseman, even if they just picked Quinn Hughes a year ago, but it would be hard to pass on 72 goal scorer Caufield and the ability to line him up next to a guy like Elias Pettersson.

Not saying I want him, I'd rather have a forward. But there's been breadcrumbs.

So has it been confirmed that Zegras and Newhook are being brought into Vancouver for a further interview? These should be our targets at 10, in addition to Boldy. It's likely that at least 2 of those players are available to us.

Based on those 3, I would probably rank them Newhook, Boldy, Zegras, but would be happy with any of them.

Me too. Agree fully and also with your order.

Very interested that he has Boldy and Caufield that high as well as Turcotte and Cozens that low.

Same with this one why is Cozens so low. Was he not expected to go top 6 but now listed in 2 rankings in the mid teens? What happened for him to be falling like this?

Button was on 1040 yesterday and said in over 30 viewings of the NTDP, he never once saw Turcotte be a better player than Zegras, Boldy, and Caufield. Felt strange. Maybe it's a play style issue.

And how does everyone feel about Krebs? Have seen some mocks having him landing somewhere in the 8-12 range.

Very intriguing draft. So many different rankings after the top 2. I always had Turcotte going no later than 4 and Cozens no later than 7. Now I am not so sure. I never really focused on us getting either since I thought it was a lock that neither would make it to us but if either are available when we pick we have to take them. Still would love Boldy or Caufield as well so any of those 4 names I am over the moon.

Some big shocks there - Caufield in the top 5, Broberg in the top 10, Cozens all the way down to 14. This could be a wild draft given the disparities in some of the rankings.

I'm very interested in Bob McKenzie's rankings since they're based on a poll of 10 scouts. That could lead to a more accurate representation than just one man's gut feeling of these players.

Broberg apparently is very high on a lot of teams list like EDM and Anaheim.

Edmonton specifically has been reported to taking him out for extra interviews and dinners last week in Bufallo.
