A lot of noise of Turcotte possibly dropping to us at 10. Apparently, Chicago/Colorado are eying the big WHL centers. Talk on SN650 this morning with Sat and Biech.

Also, Aquilini oddly liked a tweet about Turcotte on Twitter lol

Otherwise, I think one of Zegras, Newhook, Krebs is a Canuck on draft day. Zegras being their number 1 target, Newhook being their option 2.

Only way for Turcotte to drop down to 10 is for the big C if the W to come off the board and. Then Det taking Podkolzin. Then buf and Edm would have to take wingers (Boldy or Caulfield) or D. I don’t think he would get by Anaheim which would want a scoring C to take over from Getz down the line.

Yea Sat and Biech were saying DET and ANA were the wildcards. This is how they broke it down.

NJ - Hughes
NYR - Kakko
CHI - Cozens
COL - Dach
L.A - Byram
DET - ???
BUF - Caufield/Boldy
EDM - Broberg
ANA - ???

DET could take Zegras or Podkolzin. Them taking Podkolzin would be huge, would leave us possibly with either Zegras or Turcotte.

Bob's list is always a better barometer of roughly where guys might go. The power of averages is pretty strong with that kind of thing.

But i think the fretting over how far Button's list is from expected consensus along with some of the rumors floating around about who teams are really interested in, is probably a useful indicator that we might be in for a wild ride of a draft with some real "surprise" picks against the consensus grain. Potentially early in the 1st even. Odds are, the averaging will bear out and things will end up more or less in the ballpark of Bob's list. All it takes though, is a couple teams at pressure points in that Top-10 to have some significant "Button-esque" divergence from "consensus", and it could knock over some dominoes to get a really unpredictable draft. Getting that kind of divergence doesn't seem like a stretch in this particular draft, where opinions seem to be all over the map.

Turcotte dropping to 10 is pure media speculation porn. It's about as likely as Byram. Even if Turcotte somehow gets past the Hawks and Avs any team in between will take him gleefully. Nobody is drafting Broberg, Caufield, or Brody over Turcotte. Come on, meow. And Cozens isn't going freaking 3 OA.

Yeah I don't see Turcotte dropping, not after the stellar season he had. I would think all the US players this years get picked before us.

1. J.Hughes
2. Kakko
3. Byram
4. Podkolzin
5. Turcotte
6. Zegras
7. Boldy
8. Caufield
9. Dach
10.Cozens

Those are my rankings for the top 10. Good news is that we will get one hell of a player at 10 and seems to be quite deep.
 
Cozens or Dach falling would be more likely and I actually would probably wager one of them does.

Turcotte should and will be taken in the top 5.

I would go the other way

Big, skilled , talented Right Handed Centres are a premium.

I think teams will fall in love with Dach and Cozens more than Turcotte.

650 was mentioning today that the Canucks sound like they are not Hot for Caufield. Not because he is small but because they dont think he skates well enough and they don't like his transition game. Apparently Canucks are all in on Skating and Skill.

They think Caufield Is elite in getting to open spots and releasing the puck but they worry about his skating.

Eww. What's happening? I actually agree with everything they said about Caufield. I feel dirty.
 
Can't see Turcotte getting by Buffalo but anything is possible all they have to do is like a player just a tad bit more.

Last year there was "no way" Dobson was getting to us lol

These big centers are a premium and go high as we saw last year with Kotkaniemi and Hayton. Not the biggest fan of Dach and Cozens so hopefully they go before us.
 
Apparently the big knock on Dach is his motor and effort. His spacial awareness has also been questioned as he tends to float in the middle a lot and has subsequently taken a lot of big hits this year.

It certainly sounds like they want Zegras, but will take Newhook if he's not available.

If anyone falls I agree the likeliest candidates are Cozens and Dach.

Has anyone heard anything about the Canucks and Krebs? Seems odd he hasn't been mentioned despite being in that range. I'm assuming it's because everyone thinks he's more likely to convert to wing at the NHL level than Newhook.
 
I really like both of these targets, though they seem pretty telegraphed. I wish they would lockdown this information more.

We shouldn't know who their top targets are before the draft. Leave teams wondering and perhaps extract a pick or two from a desperate team moving up one or two spots.

I’d be really excited if we walked away with Newhook. High end skating, skill, and compete level. What’s not to like? He’s even a good two way player.
