Out of curiosity, why not Caufield? My choice - Soderstrom, Kaliyev or Newhook. Even Seider, but not Caufield.

No dman in the first 13 picks eh?I guess this is my list for now:
- Hughes

- Turcotte
- Krebs
- Dach
- Cozens
- Zegras
- Boldy
- Newhook
- Caufield
- Kaliyev
- McMichael
What do we give up in a scenario like that?I really love the idea of getting Florida's 1st for Luognos cap. Then we can either flip it for a player or potentially draft two really interesting players. Or package the two to move up into the top 5. The nice aspect of these early teens picks is they don't hold the same weight as a top ten pick. A top ten pick means if you like guys further back, there is way more pressure put on that player and GM when you reach for them. Hayton obviously is a case of this but Juolevi is another great example, I bet that entire fanbase wished Vancouver moved back to grab a Bean,McCavoy,Chychrun. Two later first may interest someone like Detroit who would be reaching for a defenseman if Byram is selected before them and is such a glaring positional need.
I’m hoping Krebs falls to 14. I already posted the marketing campaign.
I liked Krebs a ton at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. Probably more so than Dach or Cozens. I also like what he's been able to to on a terrible WHL team. Dragging them so far on his shoulders. I'd probably rank him 5th or 6th overall in the draft, honestly. If Chayka somehow owned the 4th overall pick and took Krebs, I wouldn't bat an eyelash.I’m hoping Krebs falls to 14. If we can aquire Florida's 1st for taking out Luongo's cap it would be 13th+14th for the 6th. Add any 3rd or later picks to balance it out.
I literally tweak my top 15 list 3-4 times daily. It’s insane.I liked Krebs a ton at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. Probably more so than Dach or Cozens. Brink is quicker than Merkley was. He's putting up points at a better rate than Merkley did, even though Merkley had the help of Draisaitl. I acknowledge that USHL and WHL are not the same, however Brink's production is historically significant. Also Merkley was a very good prospect and definitely worth a mid-first. He just hasn't developed as well as he would've without the injuries.Brink seems like a big reach that early. He reminds me a lot of Nick Merkley, actually. I think the very late first is the most likely range he'll go. Honestly, I think it's more likely he goes 32nd than 12th.
I don’t see Brink as quick. That’s my main problem with him. Which was where the Merkley comp came from.Brink is quicker than Merkley was. That's fair. You've seen two more of Brink's games than I have. His highlights and scouting reports suggest that he is quick so I'm going to hang my hat on that.I don’t see Brink as quick. That’s my main problem with him. Which was where the Merkley comp came from.
In the games I’ve seen (very limited sample) Brink’s overall mobility and quickness with the puck was disappointing to me.
I agree with the bolded, in my opinion he has the highest probability to fall to us as of now before the U-18's have happened (out of players i'm interested in), so fingers crossed. Could end up being like Barzal in 2015, good numbers, plays on a bad team, great U-18, and still somehow falls. Podkolzin is clearly in the mix of players too but i'm not ready to make an opinion of him yet due to lack of viewsI’m hoping Krebs falls to 14. I already posted the marketing campaign.
I think Ottawa could do the same, probably easier than us. When we sign that 1C this year we won't have to worry about hitting the cap floor.I really love the idea of getting Florida's 1st for Luognos cap. I couldn't give two hoots about RT's system when picking a player on draft day. I pick the best player available, period. It's up to RT to put these players in a position to succeed. Unfortunately, he hasn't done it with much success.I feel like Krebs and Zegras would be perfect for RT's system, hopefully one of them will fall
