I know from a few doctors who were ordered to cancel all vacations plans...I think they are "concerned".

Theres a difference though with being concerned and being cautious. I personally don’t see it as an issue but I’m not stupid about it either and put myself at unnecessary risk.

I play badminton with a couple doctors weekly and they are also not “concerned”. Not yet anyhow.

That big spike is coming mostly from the epicenter which you should split from the rest of the world.

Let's talk about China with 1.33 Billions people confine in a country half the size Canada.
There's only 20 533 active case at this point.
They reported only 3 cases yesterday outside Hubei and only 41 cases in Hubei.

Yet, about 4-5 weeks ago they had more than 50 000 active cases and added a few thousands everyday.
It slowed down dramatically so the curve you use there won't just keep going up like that.

So
Day 0: 109970 (3877 new infections)

I guess we'll see.
Focus on US. To date they did not test employees at the cluster in WA old people residence.
Day 0: 5000 cases in US (I know official number is below but I want to give you a heads up).
You can even start at day 0: 10,000 in US.

BTW, best site for numbers is John hopkins coronavirus site.

I do not trust numbers from China nor Iran...

Actual number on the site is 657 so starting the day 0 at 10,000 gives you an advantage of 15 times...

So let's go with day 0: 10,000 cases in US...
Still think it is progressing at 1.15 (15% more per day) but I have a hunch that the inability to test has hidden the real numbers...

After reading this thread I think I'll put some white iodine under my nose, drink a glass of red wine and eat an apple wrapped in asparagus.

On the serious side.......everyone use some common sense and take precautions. Take care....................

Do you believe numbers from China?

Use any country that has free press.
One seemed to have contained this for now: Singapore.
There is some hope after all.
The other 80+ countries: not so much.

The main concern healthcare professionals have is that they may lack space/hands to give individuals in pneumonia conditions the care they should have. They are not concerned about the death rate at all.

Here is an excellent article about it, but it is in French, sorry too long to translate. Coronavirus : Armageddon ou Foutaise ? (Dr Ph.Devos)
Pretty cool.
He talks about being able to handle 3 times more in bad flu season.

Of course, a few lines before he talks about a mortality rate of 2.2% (22 times).

Then goes on to say that 0.4% of people over 80 will die.
Do you see any problem here?
I will give you a hint: death rate over 80 is well over 10%.
26 times lower...

I really like it when an expert is contradicted by his own words.
Looks more like a politician than a real analyst.
At least he is a doctor.

Yes i believe the numbers of China….i don't think they are accurate but i don't think they tried to hide anything either.
That would be counter productive even to them.

We would have seen a much bigger outbreak in Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore if there were way more infected than what China is saying.
