GDT: 2019 IIHF World Championships - Slovakia (Bratislava/Kosice) Part II: May 10th to 26th

Kakko not seeing the ice in the final 5 minutes. I’m not surprised, one thing i’ve taken from watching him 7 -8 games is that he needs a lot of work defensively playing against top players. Which a lot of 18 year olds do.
 
with a win tomorrow Kakko will have world junior gold and world championship gold in the same year...anyone know if that has happened before?

Nope, never happened. 5 players have won all 3 throughout their careers.

edit - sorry i thought you mentioned U18 gold as well. Nobody has won all 3 as an 18 year old. He can do that tomorrow

Kakko would be TOP5 scorers in the tournament if Manninen and Pesonen ( Kaapo's linemates)
could finish all those chances what Kakko has created to them.

But it clearly shows Kakko has been neutralized by opposite teams so often which is understandable.
Kakko is player who's game lives on scoring.

That's why i hope Rangers are able to give Kakko better linemates what Finland has done.
But everyone knows also that if you put Kakko together with guys like Barkov and Laine
all what you have to do after that is enjoy beautiful goals.

Peoples who are bashing Kakko on that he isn't scored after Denmark game not understand that Kakko is only 18 yrs old and in that age player like Kakko shouldn't even carry his team because that's older players job.

Now let this young and excellent Finnish elite prospect develop and get better without any hurry.
Kakko's time in national team and NHL will come in the future.

Was at work so missed game so not sure if played or not. If he didn't its really disappointing. I wasn't looking for him to score 5-10 goals this tournament but would have been nice to see him contribute more on the scoreboard.
next year is so big for his development I feel or maybe i am just expecting too much out of him when i see his physical tools (size and skating).

He was scratched.

But isn't he the youngest player on the team?

I think people are forgetting the kid is still 19 years old lol. He's going to be training his ass off in the offseason I would assume.
