I'm leaning towards a tackle. Besides being such a massively pressing need in itself, we've also invested extremely high picks in a RB and QB in the past two drafts. Support them goddamn it lol.

That said, I wouldn't be upset if they did take Simmons. I just hope an organization as vanilla and old fashioned as the Giants knows how to use such a unique player.

I have extreme confidence in Judge, so not as worried about that last part.

I have full confidence in Judge and his team to make the correct decision right now.

Best case scenario is if Washington takes a QB, then other teams panic and try trading up with Detroit or us in order to get a QB themselves. Otherwise I am just fine with Simmons, he is dynamic.

I'm on record as having liked ken O'Brien but dan Marino was much better. He had an unbelievably quick release. Walker would have been an hofer with him. And don't laugh but I don't think lam Jones would have been a complete bust either.

Unfortunately this is the truth. There is no way on gods green earth does Maholmes do even half the shit he’s done in KC had he been picked by the Jets coaching staff with the Jet weaponry compared to KC’s much more diverse and imaginative offense and crazy good skill position players plus one of the best Olines in the league.

For those of y’all who can go back to when Ken O’Brien was drafted by the Jets at 23 overall in 1983 and by doing so passed up Dan Marino who as we all know was chosen by the Dolphins at 27 and the rest is history.

I kind have wondered had the Jets drafted Marino instead of O’Brien would the Jets have been much better, would they have won a SB and would Marino still have been a HOF QB.

Me personally, tho Jets had some very solid teams back in the 80’s, I’m still not sure Marino would have done that much better than O’Brien did from a team standpoint nor do I think he would have made the HOF.

I know crazy to think that but hear me out. I really believe due to the Dolphins defenses being so epically bad which is the main reason they only got to the SB once in Marino’s 17 years, it forced Shula to do something he never had done before which was to basically abandon the run and become a passing team that could outscore you and win 38-35 types of games. So Shula drafted great speedy WR’s and built one of the great Olines in football to protect the immobile Marino. This strategy ended up being quite successful seeing tho Miami never won a SB, they were in the playoffs every year. The defense held them back tho.

And that’s what happened and Marino put up insane #’s . The Jets meanwhile had a much more balanced offense with solid WR’s(Toon, Walker,Schumer) and a couple of very good RB’s(McNeil,Hector), a great oline and they had one of the better defenses in the league.

You put all that together and switch QB’s and teams, I contend Marino never would have made the HOF as a a Jet whereas O’Brien who was very talented and had a gun for an arm and was very smart reading defenses, just might have been a borderline HOF had he played in Miami with that sick passing offense they had.

Same goes with Mahomes. Put him on Jets and he’s still good but not this other worldly player he’s become playing in the very QB friendly Andy Reed system.

Watching this video made me excited about Simmons.

It does point out a few of his flaws, though.

SIMMONS IS THE PICK!!!

This has been my pick all along. I hope the Giants end up with him, whether its at 4 or if they trade back a bit. But I want them to ensure they end up with him. Take an OL in round 2.

It's a shame Maccagnan was so incompetent and didn't address the OL issue during his entire tenure as GM. If the Jets had some decent pieces in place already, they could afford to make a run at Lamb with the 11th pick. I think they absolutely need to take OL at 11 now.

I'd love to see Lamb or Jeudy at 11 but logically, with the depth at WR, it makes sense to go OL.

If they can grab a solid OL and then go WR with a couple of their later picks, I think they'll have a great draft.

OL at 11 and a Pittman/Reagor type player in the 2nd round would be a fantastic draft IMO

Pittman is the guy I want at 48. Great possession receiver and the USC connection should only help Darnold.

Eh, if they think Lamb is BPA on their board, he's the pick. They still need a WR almost as badly as an OT.

I think it comes down to whether they think they can find starter-quality players down the board on the OL or at WR. Like if Becton/Wills is there, do you think you can find a starting WR after that pick? If you think you can find an OT that can play, but you think Jeudy or Lamb is your best bet for a WR, then maybe you go WR. And vice versa. Jeudy would be awesome, but if you think you can snag a WR at 48 or through trading up that really helps you, then you take the OT that's there.

Good thing for the Jets is that they should definitely have either an OL or WR there for them, which are their two biggest needs. So that's good. Nice to be able to choose between a couple players that aren't DL.

I simply lean OL at 11 because of this exactly.

The chances of landing a solid WR with 3 picks btw 48 and 79 >>>>>> landing a starting OL for me*

*i dont know wtf i'm talking about

I feel like anecdotally you find more good OL in the mid rounds than WR. But I have absolutely nothing to back that up.

Let's hope the Jets have done their homework better than we have.

BTW: Ironically to this day the best football game I've ever been too was in '86...Jets beat the Fish 51-45. Marino threw 6TD's and I believe over 450 yds. O'Brien threw 4 TD's...one of them with no seconds remaining on clock to force OT and another one to win the game in OT both TD's to Wesley Walker. Friggen off the rails game...doubt I'll ever see another game like that in my lifetime.

I'll buy your Wesley Walker love and maybe he has a bit better stats if he had Marino as his QB rather than O'Brien who like I said, was no slouch and it could be argued is the 2nd best QB in franchise history behind Namath.

Now when you say Lam Jones might not have been a bust, that's where we part ways. Lam Jones had great speed but he just could't catch the football. I recall one game cause I was at the game that Richard Todd threw Jones 3 straight posts where he was wide open all 3 times and yet he dropped the ball all three times. Never have seen anything like that since either.

Anyways, I'll contend that due to the Jets much more balanced team and because we are eternally cursed, Marino would not have been a HOF if he became a Jet.

I'm definitely not going to complain if they grab one of the top WR and go after OL later.

Lamb or Jeudy excites the hell out of me.

Bucs play the Giants this season.

Friggen Tampa is now going to be Patriots south as I wouldn't be surprised if Brady gets some more of his pals to come join him.

I tell ya what, I had Jameus Winston on my fantasy team and tho he drove me absolutely nuts with all his mistakes, he also threw for 5000 yards and I belive 35 TD's. In an Ariens offense with those stud skill position guys they have in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, OJ Howard and now Gronk, Brady easily can go from a guy who wasn't even QB 1 material in most fantasy leagues last year to now I can easily see him being a top 5 pick behind Mahomes, Watson, Lamar Jackson and probably Russel Wilson. And the Bucs have a solid O-Line as well. Brady is in a great spot.

I'd definitly take him over Prescott, Murray and Josh Allen. I might think about it a bit about Rogers tho I'll admit. But dang...amazing how Brady has left what likely was as shitty a situtation from a QB perspective as New England was to know he's in just about as good a place for QB as you can find.
