Impressive when half their receivers have been injured the whole season and their pathetic line has been giving up pressure every down.

If he can't fix the fumbles, he could be Dan Marino throwing the ball and it won't matter. I've defended him long enough, it has reached the point of me not being able to do so.

He definitely has a fumbling problem but he's also being put in terrible spots. Shurmur constantly calling for Saquon runs for 0 yards on 1st down which puts him in 3rd and longs. Saquon has been absolutely awful in pass protection which has caused at least 3 or 4 sacks that have led to fumbles. It's not supposed to be that difficult. Even your average backup running back is supposed to do better than that. When your running back is not picking up the blitz, the quarterback loses the 2 seconds or so to throw that he expects to have.

Barkley is an extremely frustrating player. He cannot block. He refuses to initiate contact. He cannot adapt his game at all (he keeps dancing today when he needs to go forward). All the problems that some of us saw at PSU are rearing their ugly heads today.

Gettleman failed him by not molding the offensive line how Barkley needs it. But I expect more from a #2 draft pick. A lot more.

•How does Shurmur do multiple bootlegs with an immobile QB but almost never •with a mobile one?
•Barkley up the middle for no gain has been a theme.
•Never any help for his tackles who get beat often, all season and results in the QB getting hit a lot.
•I don't believe he can fix Jones fumbles. He did not fumble like this in college and got hit a lot.
•Does not use Engram enough.

He is absolutely horrific. 17-42 career record.

I think it’s safe to say Betcher is gonna be fired. He may not survive the season. Shurmur is back next year unless they were to lose out or win only one more. I could see them at this stage winning just one more game. Likely Skins or Miami.

At least with cinci, dolphins, browns, and a couple other bottom feeders they will be looking to draft a qb at top of draft. Might mean that chase young falls to the giants or the best offensive tackle available. I'd be surprised if we weren't picking top 5.

Scheme and technique seem to be a problem with everyone on this team in terms of blocking. Barkley is way to physically gifted to be getting bull rushed the way he has been this year. There are always defenders in the backfield on runs. Very difficult to have an effective running game if the back always has to make a man miss before reaching the line of scrimmage.

If not for the fumbling and the team’s record, Jones would be a legend right now with these numbers. 15 TD 8 INT and over 65% as a rookie on a team that 2-8. I’ve never seen stats that good ever from a rookie QB on a team that bad though I’m sure someone has played that well. Peyton went 26-28 his first year and the team was 7-9

I think he's still hurt. Early in the game the sideline reporter said that his ankle is improving but he's still worried about having a set back. This would explain he's been tentative.
He was a good blocker last year and in college.

Hes middle of the pack as a rookie in total QBR this year. I just cant get upset with the giants record. Were starting a rookie qb who looks like he can be a franchise qb. We shud be able to add a high end lineman in the draft with the way things are going.

Yeah he was a very good blocker in college. Beyond a lack of talent there doesnt seem to be any creativity in scheme for blocking from the giants.

So Pat Shurmur has at least twice inexplicable "lost" Barkley when he was having a monster game. This year, game 1 against the Cowboys and last year game 2 against the Eagles. Today Barkley was absolutely atrocious and almost certainly playing hurt. He runs him like he's Eric Dickerson. Not only that, he doesn't even try to get him involved in the passing game. The one play he made was in the passing game.

Doing a quick and dirty look at the standings, it's actually quite possible that Chase Young could end up a Giant next April. Every team likely to finish above them (Cincy, Washington, Miami, Jets?) will all go for QB's except for the Jets, whom should take Jeudy or another WR. Question is, do one of these teams leverage the Giants into trading up and still grab their QB of choice?
