The Giants' defense is the ****ing worst. The O-line is garbage. Their best receiver is a 5th round rookie. At least Jones played well.

Jones continues in a small sample size to remind me of Eli. Very Jekyl and Hyde. He smokes a bad Tampa D, looks awful against a bad Arizona D, looks spectacular against what has been a pretty good Detroit defense til the last 2 games

Jones shows all the tools to be a Franchise QB, but he’s gotta be better with ball security. I can handle rookie mistakes, but some of them are borderline sloppy.

I think part of that is also learning to “fight another day.” Sometimes the best play is just to throw it away.

While Eli is a 2 time Super Bowl MVP, I think it's a bit unfair to say that Jones is Jekyl and Hyde like Eli. a) Eli didn't become Jekyl and Hyde till later. He sucked in his rookie year, Jekyl and Hyde would have been an improvement. Had a great Steelers game and a decent Cowboys game, that's it. Eli was Jekyl and Hyde deep into his career until he started to just suck, albeit in large part due to the shit show in front him. Jones being that way in his rookie year is understandable.

Eli has been Jekyl and Hyde most of his career. Jones is more explosive and versatile and may have better career #s, but he has a long way to go.

Someday there is going to be a documentary or or maybe a 30 For 30 on NY sports in the late 2010s. I honestly don't know of a period where everything seemed so hopeless and so many of the teams were run by idiots, had coaches who are dead men walking (professionally not physically just to clarify), or just the overall mood and tone is so bleak.

No matter how bad NY sports were in any period there was always 1-2 teams that made in interesting or were competitive. The Yankees are paper tigers until they fix their pitching and the Islanders are pretty darn good but that's it.

In football, the two teams have such inept coaches. Gase is going to last longer just because he's so new but he's pretty much been done since the hire which was very unpopular and the press conference with the eyes was the icing on the cake. Guy is more of a Seinfeld nemesis for Newman than a head coach.

Shurmur is just bland and can't run a team. He's awful. Giants need to once again need everything outside of a QB, RB, and PK. They have 1/5 OLine, and need help on the D in every position. I like Shepard a lot but I'm worried he's going to have to go the way of Al Toon. One more hit and it's going to be very tough for him to come back. Many NFL receivers last like 4-6 years, it stink that may be the case for him.

I was at the Rangers game today and I normally get loud but I got a bit drunk and just lost it. The Giants game really set me up for it. It's just miserable being a fan now. My life is pretty decent now but my sports teams are ruining everything.

It's not like Dallas played like crap against the Jets. They had more possession and total yards, fewer turnovers, 25+ first downs including 10+ 3rd down conversions. NFL teams are 90-1 in those spots since 1991 with the only loss being Dallas Jets.
I agree and that's why,I just to be super clear, did NOT say they were trash as in "a bad team". Overrated? Yes. Mediocre or a little above average? Yes. Underachieving? Yes. Not trash.

I said they beat up trash. I did say they were crap but i meant the franchise. My bad if anyonethought I meant the team this year

I don't agree completely with your Yankees comment. They couldn't score more than four runs except in game 1. Pitching wise they held down the Astros for most of the series. Everything else is disturbingly incompetent from ny sports

The misery index with NY sports is very high right now. Incompetence and futility in some cases paired with recent Boston and DC dominance makes it even worse.

Trotz is getting blood out of stones with the Islanders.

The Yankees are good but not good enough to get to the World Series. The Astros are just on another level.

Giants getting a pass rusher. Too little too late for this year, but he could be a solid pick up. He fits well in a 3-4 defense.

Figured that's what they would get, didn't think it would be the Giants giving up the picks though.

Assuming they want to sign him to an extension?

Feel like the Giants can just handshake agreement with him, and announce the deal on the first day of the new league year so the pick doesn't go from 5 to 4.

The Giants need a pass rusher. Remains to be seen if he's part of the solution. It's honestly horrible if they gave up a 3rd and 5th to rent him this year when they're earmarked for another top 10 pick.

That's my issue. The player himself is fine and the need people are pointing too I totally understand.

But to part with draft capital like that for an underachieving, soon-to-be FA in what is a dead season really sucks.
