None of that is false still. RB is undervalued nowadays. You don't need an elite one to win.

Jones could have still been drafted at 17 or in the 2nd round, even if he does turn out to be a good QB.

Is this just a NY thing? People viewing the world like the stock market, with the (false) belief that they can optimize assets in every facet of life?

Lots of ppl not wanting to eat crow. ‘Wait till he plays the 80’s bears defense and he’ll fall flat on his face I promise’. And ‘might not be that bad maybe but still shoulda picked him in the 4th round cuz he sucks and no one wanted him FACTS’

I'm nuts I know but I can't stop thinking that Bettcher subconsciously put Jenkins out there with no help against Evans because of Jenkins "10 seconds" comment last week.

Sure made Jenkins look bad.

I doubt Jones would have been there at 17. Giants were not the only team in on him. Elway liked him too. After the Giants selected Jones, the Broncos traded back.
For the Giants to pick Allen 6th and then trade up for Jones, they would have to be sure that the one the the 3 teams picking ahead of the Broncos (Jaguars, Lions and Bills) would be willing to fall back to the 17th pick. Plus the Giants would have to include other nice sweeteners in a trade.

There's also whispers that Bengals were interested.

He wasn't going to the Redskins cause Snyder wanted Haskins. The Skin coaches wanted Jones, supposedly.

There's no way to know that with any certainty. No team is going to truthfully admit their draft plans after the fact, regardless of what they're saying in print. Other than Washington, what teams would've realistically taken Jones in the 1st round?
I don't know about any other teams but there was zero chance the Skins would have taken Jones - they were locked in on Haskins from the start.

Loved what I saw from Jones yesterday.

I was bearish on him starting so soon, but I underestimated the kid's ability to stay calm in the pocket. That's such a rare ability for a rookie QB to have.

He's going to need to learn ball security, but all young QBs struggle with that. Another weapon in Tate will be coming back Week 5, so hopefully that will smooth the transition even more.

Barkley's injury didn't look too terribly serious, but I hope the medical staff is cautious and conservative with him.

Mike is having a heart attack. He can't whine about how bad Jones was tomorrow. His entire show needs to be re-written.

****ing clown. Jones should shove an entire crow down his throat. Him and the Eli-Is-God contingent can screw off.

In fairness, all he said (that I remember) was that Jones wouldn't fix the D so the team will still suck, that the Giants shouldn't have brought back Eli if they were going to go this route, Coach Pat's record sucks and the QB switch was a job saving measure by Gets.

I agree with all but the Eli thing. Idgaf about bringing Eli back. He's insurance in case Jones needed time to bake on the bench and he's good enough to still win some games with a good enough team. He also won't raise a stink if benched. I saw no downside to bringing in Eli.

Mike can be full of it but I haven't heard too much pure bs about this whole Giants situation from him. Gettleman is usually in charge of that dept. And this coming from a guy who thought it was fine to take Bark as long as you draft a QB the year after and strike gold. Even still, Gets is full of crap

The question I asked myself today is why does Eli suck so bad at 38 where as Brees and Brady are still great older despite the fact they have had several injuries during their career and missed way more games where as Eli never has been injured once

Nobody really knows, sometimes general wear and tear takes a different degree of toll on some peoples' bodies compared to others'...

I also think a lot of Eli's issues are mental -- he's never been able to scramble, and for the last 3-5 years the NFL has moved to a model where QBs need to be able to scramble, even if its just a quick juke step like we saw Jones do yesterday.

In the NFL today, there's only 2-3 teams that have an O line that can keep a massive pocket for more than 4-6 seconds -- Cowboys, Patriots, Saints. That's about it. Watch the Chiefs, those pockets close up fast, the counter to that issue is to have a QB who can move... we all know Mahomes can move

I mean, probably the same reason why Legwand was longer lived that Brad Richards. Add to that the fact that Epi was never as good as those aformentioned two.

It’s a tough call on Brees he obviously won a super bowl but I’m not sure he was markedly better than Eli as much as he just had much better teams around him for the most part

Well two of them were top five QBs in the league for years and the other was a slightly above average QB for years.

Brees and Brady keep themselves in insane physical condition.

Eli has never had that level of physical fitness. You have to train even harder as you age to combat the natural degradation that happens in the human body.

Eli Manning is 38 years old. That would be incredibly old, historically speaking, if not for the two freaks in NE and NO.

If you’re convinced Jones is your guy, you take him at 6 and don’t take any chances. I said it on draft night...you better be right, because you don’t get to make that decision twice in the span of a couple...usually. I wasn’t happy with the pick on draft night. I’m more than happy to be wrong.

Jones wasn't a "sexy" pick because the Giants have never had a dual threat QB. It turns out he may actually be one.

Ball security is going to be something he needs to improve on. Hopefully the OLline continues to improve talent wise over the next few years.

OBJ hasn't done anything this year. Guy hasn't done much in the league other than one great regular season and a YouTube catch.

OBJ really is overrated af, I’d argue he isn’t even a top-5 receiver at this point.

Brady and Brees have always been MUCH better QB's for one. Lol

They clearly got it right and it makes the barkley pick look even better. They took the only generational player in the draft then took a franchise an the following draft.
