OT: 2019 Football Thread: Free Agency and The Draft

Anderson McLendon QW Leo

I guess we will be running a 4 man front. He's the best player on the board but it's just not a need. Maybe tell Leo to lose some weight, play that end position and switch over to a 4-3.

Lee-Mosley-Williamson

That's actually a really good front 7. One edge rusher to replace Jenkins would put it over the top.

However, I fear we're looking to trade Lee, which I really don't like.
 
What’s even scarier? We’re going to still have a horrific defense. A year older Eli and no Odell. We’re a bottom 5 team and what will be avail? 3 stud QBs. All 3 of which will be infinitely better prospects than Jones. And we’ll pass on them because we’ll have to and go defense.

Jets still gave no outside rush. Taking an interior DL AGAIN. Hopefully Quinnen ends up being elite because i'm not going to be satisfied if he ends up being another Leonard Williams, Richardson, Wilkerson. Above average but not elite.

Willians is as safe as a pick it gets. He will be good big won’t be throwing Pro lineman around like he did In college

He's better than all of those players.

It's just not the sexy EDGE we've been missing since Abraham.

Last year: In need of QB + QB heavy draft = we draft RB
This year: In need of QB and pass rush + pass rush/DEF heavy draft = we reach on a QB and take a run-stuffer
Next year: In need of Pass rush + QB heavy draft = I predict we'll reach on a pass rusher

Gettleman seems to be operating a year behind the rest of the league.

Not to mention that all of this traces back to Gettleman/Front Office complete mis-assessment of the 16-17 season and deciding that was a team to double down on.
 
Haskins and Sweatt would have been an awesome draft for us but nah. We actually got clowned by Washington a joke franchise just looked like geniuses compared to us

The WFAN host blasted the Giants’ decision to select Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the sixth-overall pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft, declaring that general manager Dave Gettleman “talked out of both sides of his face” by claiming the Giants could retool and win at the same time with Manning and then using the team’s top pick to take a player who presumably will not help them in 2019, the last year of Manning’s contract.

“The Giants have absolutely screwed Eli Manning. Absolutely screwed him,” Francesa said on his “Mike’s On” app. He then suggested he believes Manning knew the Giants were going to go this route in a somewhat conspiratorial tone.

“And I can tell you right now, I think Eli Manning knew this was coming. I can’t tell you yet why I knew that, but I do think he knew this was coming,” Francesa added.

Francesa said he thought the Giants might take a quarterback later in the draft or trade for the Cardinals’ Josh Rosen, but “I’m absolutely stunned with what the Giants did. I never thought the Giants would take him at No. 6. ... It shows me that you had no plan."
