I want one of the American forwards or Dach if he falls. Not high on cozens IQ. I have no good reason not to like krebs but he seems like he will be a middle 6 guy to me and just had an Achilles injury. Broberg sounds like a less physical nurse. We need scoring in the worst way and these guys can be useful within a year or 2. Can’t keep wasting Mcdavid and drais prime years

Oilers.com has a bunch of mock drafts for 8 and 38.

Michaels: Broberg and Robertson
Stauffer: Broberg and Leason
Principe: Turcotte and Foote
Brar: Cozens and Vlasic
Editorial: Cozens and Bjornfot

Send anyone but Michaels out there. If we come out of the first two rounds with only two LHD to show for it I will be reeeeeaalllyyyy grouchy.

Man, Oilers media and now Button all talking Broberg for edm.

That pick would tick me off. Maybe at 11 or something that would be ok.

A big if. If the Oilers are certain that Broberg can be a top pairing defenseman, then I would strongly consider him. But there are too many question marks to take him ahead of one of the forwards.

If the Oilers need a D-Man that bad, then trade the assets to move up to 4/5 and get Byram. He will probably drop like Seth Jones did.

I like Robertson, but not if we already reach for Broberg.

Really hoping someone falls and forces Holland to change course if he's really considering Broberg. Haven't seen anything I like in the limited I've seen of Broberg.

That why I say ... at 11 I'd consider him, but there is so much available up front to ignore.
We have depth on D, we have very very little up front.

This. Go with the forward in round one and grab Robertson in round 2.

I’d be ok with trading down for Broberg. I’d be ok with Robertson 38th. Taking Broberg 8th and Robertson 38th and not getting a forward until the Isles 3rd round pick is not a great idea.

Broberg skates the puck up the ice really well and will take it to the net (sometimes). That is his highlight reel (and why the comparisons to Nurse). He is great at controlled zone exists because of his skating.

I have not seen him doing anything else really well. He is big, but not tough like Nurse. He also lacks urgency in the defensive zone (from what I can tell). Once in the offensive zone, he has trouble making plays (like Nurse).

Broberg uses a wrister from the point most of the time. I have not heard anyone say that he is a great defensive player.

Damnit.

Zegras is falling further and further out of our hands.

Why is Broberg on the radar at 8? This seems crazy given Bouchard, Samorukov, Bear and Jones. We need forwards and a goalie a hell of a lot more than defencemen.

So why is Brett Leason so good and mark kastelic a bag of dirt draft wise?

Leason has 12 more points in 10 less games.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Kastelic more a Maroon type?

Leason can drive play. Kastelic gets his points mostly in front of the net and getting rebounds.

Damn if we want him this bad at least trade down for him but Holland also doesn't seem like the type of professional who would telegraph this to media.

Holland did want him for Detroit. But this is also a different team with different needs

I'd go with a forward at 8 and Robertson, Kolyachonok, or Foote at 38

I'm going to be really disappointed if they pick Broberg. That pick makes about as much sense for us as trading for Reinhart in 2015. This is not a need at all. Both the main roster and prospects are stronger on the blue line, especially left handed defenders. The forwards in this draft are about as can't miss as I can remember. We need to find cheap ELC forwards who can play more than anything.. dumb dumb dumb. Do not take Broberg.

LD isn't really a need, but it would be understandable if Broberg was the clear BPA.

But he's not even close to that.

He isn't the BPA.
He isn't even close to being an organizational need.
He's a low IQ player.

It would be such a dumb move.
That said, I don't buy all the hype around the Oilers being really into him. I highly doubt we draft him, especially considering that McKenzie had him 16th and that just a couple weeks ago Stauffer was saying the Holland was looking into one of the USNDTP players.

The only thing that worries me is that they took him out for dinner.

I believe Cozens was the only other player?
