Sounds like a ToewsWhat I really like about Krebs is that he can play a simple give-and-go game. He really knows where to go on the ice and how to both complement and support his linemates and with that ability he makes those around him better. He's such a smart, hard-working and low maintenance player. You could plug and play him anywhere in the lineup and he'd do a good job. That is really valuable.

I like Krebs as a player. It's hard not to like his willingness, IQ and character. Hes the kind of guy you win with. However just because hes selfless and was on a crap team doesnt mean I'm not worried about his production. The kid is going to learn how to produce with limited ice time and only had 19 goals in the minors.
When was the last guy that didnt put up 20 goals in the chl in their draft year come into the nhl and be a 30 goal guy?

That's a really interesting take on Podkolzin, most people seem to have the exact opposite one. Watching him he's got tons of skill but worry that it hasn't translated to more points. The Oilers have Maksimov and Safin. Just based on eye test, IMO, Podkolzin just doesn't look like the 3rd most skilled player of the draft
That seems really short sighted. Keep Eakins away from them to start. I'll be honest, if he falls to the Oilers, they'll likely end up with a gem.
30 goals seems lofty.
There's plenty of centers in the NHL that are super valuable and don't hit that.
I'd be very happy with either of Krebs or Zegras.Taking a brief look at other teams boards...
1. NJD - Hughes
2. NYR - Kakko
3. CHI - Byram
4. COL - Cozens
5. LA - Turcotte
6. DET - Podkolzin
7. BUF - Dach
8. EDM -
Players left available in our range - Krebs, Zegras, Boldy, Caufield, Kaliyev, Soderstrom, Heinola, Broberg
Byram is the only player I'd trade up for. But the cost would be crazy.I really beleive the Oilers should at all costs make a run at the 3rd or 4th pick. Chicago may want to trade down and grab an extra asset because I beleive the player they covet can be picked at 8th from browsing around. 8th and Puljujarvi ? Or 8th and 2nd. Byram is the exact type of defenseman that can turn franchises around. The guy skates fast' hits hard' has an insane hockey IQ, and is basically a franchise defenseman sitting there. What the Oilers have always been missing is that true number 1 and 2. 3 years down the road with Byram and Bouchard anchoring 1 and 2, the Oilers could really develop a consistency of winning for a decade plus.

I think Krebs' upside is getting underrated. He is a safe pick, but his ceiling is still very high. I don't see why he can't become a Point-esque player.

Barrett Hayton scored 21 goals last year and was under a point-per-game. He was taken at 5.I still like him and hope he becomes the next Brayden Point. I'm just saying I cant remember a guy who scored so little get taken so high. Even Point was able to break the 20 goal mark.

30 goals for a top 10 pick playing with McDavid, drai or nuge should be the expectation. Who was the last time a forward from the CHL taken in the top 10 that didnt score 20+ goals in their draft year? Are there any?
Not taken in the top10 but should've been: Mathew Barzal.
12 goals in 44 games in his draft year. At that pace he would've had 17 goals in 64 games (same number of games as Krebs played). So that's even fewer goals and on a better team too. Hell, even in his final year of junior eligibility he only had 10 goals in 41 games in WHL.
As I've mentioned before, Krebs has a good shot, so that's not really the issue here. He'll score goals in the NHL no doubt.

LaLeggia? Do you mean Lagesson?D seems to have a way of following . Does Chicago take him ? They should be they still have Kane and Toews so they want to compete a forward doesn't take the time to develop . The Wings may grab him but if Podkolzin is there they may go with him . They have good luck with Russian . Then there us . McDavid is frustrated now if we draft a D man how long would we have to wait before he made an impact ? If Podkolzin is there maybe we should make a trade . Teams would pay up , Target a team with a pick in the teens and maybe get a winger or 3 line C to boot .
I do like the thoughts of our D with Byram
I am only listing prospect that look like they will become NHLers
Byram Bouchard
Jones Bear
Samorukov Persson
LaLeggia
We would be stacked at D
Yeah, this is awful and you sound like you're done with all of this, so maybe follow that instinctYou have way too much faith in this org. We are special needs. If there is anything remotely unusual or challenging we will flounder. We need to stick to drafting players that will develop themselves. Go Cozens.
This is seems silly and over blown in 2019.I don’t think we hate him. I think some teams might shy away because he’s staying in Russia a little longer and certain teams won’t want to risk the possibility of a high first round pick not coming over.
LaLeggia? Do you mean Lagesson?
Also, I'm not sure that we can let whoever we pick develop for more than 1 year without Mcdavid or Drai wanting to get tf out of here.
The scary part about a prospect staying in 2 years is that they could stay another 2 years and become a free agent.I don't see what one has to do with the other. It's not like whoever the Oilers pick is going to make a huge impact in the next year or two.
They aren't making this pick to appease McDrai, it's for the long term. If they pick a college player who stays 2 years so be it.
