I think 18th overall is best case scenario with Toronto, assuming 4 non-division winners with fewer points than Toronto makes the conference finals

Honestly, hindsight is 20/20, but I will be happy with anyone they draft at 5. Nothing you can do about it, just take the BPA you think you can. No matter what, unless they Hickey it or trade down, you're going to get a good player.

This is accurate, but it's 20th.

No ones position changes unless they reach the conference finals, or in the case of division winners, they get 24-27 should they fail to reach the conference finals.

So because only 4 teams positions will change by getting to that point, you can only move up 4 spots. This would be if the matchups were PIT/CAR vs CBJ and WPG/STL/DAL vs VGK/COL.

Players from 3-10 are pretty close, really...any one of these could end up being as good as any other...3-12 ::::

I think the farthest they'd drop would be 10, as they made a big deal about securing top 10 draft choices this season and next. That being said, I'd be fine with it if someone overpaid for pick 5.

We are picking 5th.
We are not getting another 1rd pick for moving down a few spots. So it's not worth it.

We should take Cozens and try to move our TOR pick into top 15 . Package a player + TOR pick
If we leave with Cozen and Broberg from that first round I will be happy considering this lottery disaster.

Why would Colorado do that for a player who is a year away from becoming a UFA and had the least productive season of his career?

In order for the Kings to move up, they’ll have to package something useful along with the Toronto 1st.

What we as fans view Toffoli as is completely different than what a team like Colorado whose on the cusp does...
What player at 16th overall gives them what Tyler does right now? Is that player going to make the NHL and help? Those and more questions are what GMs ask themselves, just like DL did when he traded for players during our cup run and after...
Fit is always key when acquiring players and TT as much as he sucks right now would probably kill it in that Avs team... Oh and the Avs would actually still get a kid at #4 that can play in the NHL.. so it’s really a win, win for them..

Like this, there is not big difference between 3 to 10, if someone 6-9 or even 10 likes a guy a lot and wants to jump up to 5 to make sure they get him, Kings move down to 9 but also grab and extra 2nd round pick or even a first the following year you do it if no one guy stands out.

That team may make the offer and the hawks say no because the player they want ( say turcotte ) would never make it down to that spot. Where as the kings maybe interest in say Dach who would be available lower . That is why we could make a trade and the hawks won't Its a mattter of who u want and if they would be available where u end up

I really hope Byram gets picked before 5 so that we get Turcotte or Cozens. Wings can get Podz if he slips like Zadina at 6. We shouldn't be doing Oilers any favors.

well if u look a the hf boards like i have It seem a lock that Turcotte is going to the black hawks He played jr there and would help the pr there Next the avs seem to want Byram at 4 if u believe there fan poll. I think one of Cozen Duch Zegras will be there at say 8 and we can pick up a decent asset or two on top u have to consider it.

Why would the Kings be looking to dump Carter? That’s an insanely bad idea. Beyond insane. The Kings don’t need cap space and they don’t need to get rid of Carter. If we want to trade down five spots to pick up an extra second or a prospect or something, that’s fine. But you’re out of your mind if you think 1. the Kings would do that, or 2. the Kings should do that.

I didn't realize they changed the lottery system. Just another reason to hate Edmonton! I admittedly don't follow prospects before they are drafted but when I saw a show on TSN the other night I learned about Hughes and Kakko. I was fully expecting us to draft that Kakko guy and was stoked purely because of the name. Then I look at the draft lottery results and see we're drafting 5th. What in the f? The Kings can't even lose well! Some things never change. We had to endure this beyond craptastic season and they are picking 5th?????

Team USA U18 roster announced. Tournament starts a week from today and NHL Network usually airs the US games. Alex Turcotte apparently has been sick for a few weeks, so they opted to leave him off the roster.
