Draft lottery, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that our #2 pick stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Draft Lottery... so grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!

Knocking on wood right now but the Devils are up 3-1 on Florida going into the 3rd. Which would mean a 30th place finish (Top 5 at the least) no matter what happens in tonight's game.

Come on Devils!!

The lottery is only for the top 3 picks. The subsequent rounds are unaffected.

So their first 3 picks are:
- 1-5 (depending on lottery results)
- 16-31 (depending on Toronto's performance in the playoffs)*
- 33rd overall

*I don't think it's possible for Toronto to fall in the 16-20ish range, but wasn't going to go through all the playoff possibilities in my head

Ah that's right, 3 in the top 33 is even better! Going to be a very important draft.

The 2nd pick in the first is going to be really interesting because there will be a good player there. Caufield could possibly be there when they pick. I wonder if they would take him? One of the Dmen will probably be there too between York, Seider, Broberg, Robertson and Haley.

Another defenseman name to know is Mikko Kokkonen. Some have him in first rd. 19 pts in Liiga this year. And #9 EU Central Scouting list. I have read good things
about him. EU list: 5. Soderstrom, 6 Seider 7 Heinola 8 Bjornfot 9 Kokkonen

Would be something if you have a chance for either Hughes or Kakko and you end up with the 5th.

Personally I prefer Swedish defensemen over Finnish.
 
I think these will pretty much be the top 10...certainly someone else could slide in. Podkolzin is kind of the wildcard, due to uncertainty about coming to North America.
But think these 10 will be gone be 15, certainly.

Just tried the simulator and on the first try it showed LA picking first as well as 24th with Toronto’s pick. I like the results and I think that will be my one and only time trying it.

So which of the top teams picking have had past success with the Russian players or have someone that would pair nicely with Podkolzin. He is such a wildcard.

Detroit has had great past success, would they take a flier?

I just hope we stay away from him. Kings and Russian born players seem to not play out well.

I say that now and watch him turn into Tarasenko while the guy we pick turns into Forbort.
 
Is there a clear cut #3? If they don't land either Hughes or Kakko then I think they will take the defenseman Byram.

Watching highlights of Byram and Broberg and they both look great. I'd love to see the Kings land either 1 and 1 of the talented forwards.
