If we cant get Hughes id rather we get Cozens over Kakko

Kakko is a higher skilled player. Cozens may have a higher floor, because even if he doesn't have the skill to make it on the top six, he could be a grinder.

I'm honestly not even sure I'd pick Cozens 3rd overall. Turcotte, Krebs, and Dach all appeal in very different ways.

After Podkolzin said in an interview he may not ever want to come to play in North America (my paraphrasing), I want to stay away from him.

If we ended up with #2 and drafted Cozen over Kakko heck even Podkolzin knowing his situation I'd cry. Perfect comparison would be 2015 picking Strome over Eichel. Cozens isn't even in many top 5 lists. Kakko 10 out of 10 scouts had at #2 based upon the last time McKenzie released his scout rankings. There is not one thing I can think as a prospect that Cozen has clear-cute better than Kakko while the vice versa I can name numerous. That said if we remain top 7 I'm happy as I'd still be happy if gained any of: Podkolzin, Cozens, Dach, Turcotte, or Byram. Then you can make an argument for a few others to be in there above those, but based upon combined scouting service rankings, little I've seen from most of the top guys, and just my personal preference I'd want one of those guys.

Actually, 9/10 had Kakko #2. The one who had him at #3 had Podkolzin #2

Please I don't think I could take another grinder, i have hankering for skill and speed

If Podzolkin were Canadian, he would be on more even footing with Kakko among scouts. He’s very, very good. I still slightly prefer Kakko, but Pod is up there.

Regardless, we need to hockey gods to grace us once more with a top two pick. You can’t screw up #1 or #2 in this year’s draft, but #3 - 10 is much more wide open. There’s a Lauri Tukonen hidden somewhere in that second tier of prospects this year.

The legend that never was in Lauri Tukonen. That was such a bad draft past the first 5 picks.
Tukonen looked scared every shift he took .

I wonder if the Kings end up selecting #3 and do not want Podkolzin, bet any teams that want him will
be calling Blake for the pick...trade down some spots. It would depend on what slot and if the Kings
have a short list of draftees they could still get with a lower slot. Get another asset in the deal.

agree; I think if we miss JH and KK we should trade down; my pick than would be Byram or Turcotte

his numbers in russia are not very good, kind of surprising

I'm all on board for Turcotte. Really like his game, even if it is dangerous to a long term career.

I agree. He's really turned it on now. 1.5 ppg . 17 goals in 22 games with US Team. Turcotte turns 18 Tuesday.

He's #1 in PPG in USHL games..beating Hughes. Turcotte 15 pts in 8 USHL games. Hughes 20 pts in 13 USHL games.

These quotes from November or before - so since then, exceeding or at least meeting expectations.
Quick, strong on feet, high hockey IQ, great instincts, 2 way player...good vision. playmaker can play center or wing. I'm good if the Kings had #3 overall and took him. I read up on him a few months ago and one scout said move for move and skating, he's right there with Hughes. I suspect all the Kings scouts and staff, wil have seen a lot of Cozens,Dach, Turcotte, Zegras, Boldy, Byram...and I kind of actually trust them with the picks; theyve done pretty good last 3 drafts

Cam Robinson - Dobber Prospects - Dec. 20th: "Across-the-board talent with a smart and efficient style. Great offensive instincts, quick acceleration and is already a deft two-way player. A constant battler. Another player with first-line upside."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Dec. 12th: "With injury issues still pending, he may very well find himself in the Morgan Rielly/Brett Connolly category, where he’s still a high pick regardless of how many games he plays this season."

Sam Cosentino - SportsNet - Nov. 7th: "Injury-plagued season has limited him to just three games. Based on past successes, however, he’s still a top 10 pick."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - Nov. 6th: "Turcotte is unquestionably fast, hard-working and up-tempo. He’s also extremely strong on his feet, which makes him difficult to knock off the puck at full speed or win back possession from off the cycle.

Steve Kournianos - The Draft Analyst - Nov. 5th: "he injury bug may have temporarily slowen the hype train, but Turcotte is an explosive two-way center who can carry any linemate."

Sam Cosentino - SportsNet - Oct. 2nd: "High hockey IQ as a result of coming from a hockey family. Is self aware and doesn’t play beyond his capabilities. Has good vision and shows patience with the puck."

Craig Button TSN - Aug. 14th: "Versatile and has the sense to make plays at centre or on the wing. Very good in tight spaces and has a quick mind to recognize opportunities and execute."

Even if you finish in 30th, in the lottery you have a nearly 2 out of 3 chance of picking 4th or 5th. The odds are NOT IN YOUR FAVOR. Reality check.

This. There are going to be alot of Kings fans that will be disappointed when neither Hughes or Kakko will be a King. We should start looking at players in the 4-5 range. Turcotte gets my vote.

At the end of the day, it's a lottery which means anything can happen.

They have to end up with at least 2-3 NHL players this year. Maybe 3-4 because Vilardi is such a giant question mark.

There are solid options up to 5 IMO. I will be dissapointed if LA falls out of of top 5

Nobody knows where the Kings are going to draft at this point. It's a lottery. You can't predict it either way. The Sabres had the worst record last year and won it. NJD won it the year before with the 5th best odds.

Telling people to stop thinking one way or another is just self-serving and pointless. Some people are trying to find some small positive in a really bad season so let them do their thing.
