Moritz Seider actually looks good for a late first. Solid all-around defenseman with size.

Man,

Colorado is going to have two picks in the top ten aren't they ?

If they get the top pick from Ottawa and another top 10, imagine them moving the later 1st and a other assets to possibly get 1 & 2.........that would be crazy.

And #4 overall 2017 they selected, RHD phenom Cale Makar, is finishing his Soph year at UMass and
has 10 goals, 34 pts in 28 games and some say he's the best player in all of college hockey right now.
May sign and come out.

I know i've talked about Arthur Kaliyev before, but what he's doing is just dumb, have a hard time seeing him fall outside the Top 10 on his way to scoring ~55 goals as a 17 year old on a team that isn't especially good.

If the Kings wind up with #2, Kakko is obviously the go to pick, and I won't complain. But obviously, Hughes is a phenom and plays a critical position. We could slide seamlessly from the Kopitar era to the Hughes era.

Kakko is no paltry consolation prize, though. He has the skillset to be the best winger the Kings have had since Palffy.

I think Podkolzin has the potential to fall in this draft given his comments about staying in Russia.

In all likelihood, I would like to see the Kings walk away from the first round with Kakko and Beecher.

Heading into 19/20 with a forward prospect pool of Kakko, Vilardi, Kupari, JAD, Thomas, and Beecher would be fantastic. That's the most talent the Kings pipeline would have at F in well over a decade.

I will be ecstatic if we are lucky enough to land a top-two pick. I prefer Hughes over Kakko, but I will be perfectly content with either.

Yeah, I would certainly prefer Hughes, as well. He's unquestionably the #1 pick.

I think 3rd overall is probably the most difficult pick of the draft. Podkolzin is certainly the objective 3rd pick. Some scouts have him as good if not better than Kakko. But Pod has also outright said he's going to stay in Russia for however long he wishes until he's ready to commit to the NHL, which is a big yikes. He could fall because of this. If he does and still comes over, he will be the steal of the draft. He's not Kovalchuk-esque as far as pure goal scoring goes. Moreso a Russian Doug Gilmour, as one scout put it. Plays with an edge, good two way instincts, doesn't give up on any play, ceiling is probably 30-45-75 in the NHL.

After that, it's a wash of quality forward prospects. Cozens, Dach, Turcotte, Newhook, Suzuki, Boldy. This draft is all about high end forwards. Lots of talent available in the top ten if you're looking for a future top six forward.

Broberg is the only non-forward who will go in the top-ten, I think. Hedman-lite. Colorado could potentially walk away with Hughes and Broberg, which is just absurd. Imagine getting an elite superster #1C and potential #2-4D - possible #1D - in the same draft. I think Broberg will be gone by the time Colorado gets their natural pick, though.

Setting records...and he'd look great in Kings colors

Interesting, I tend to think Byram will be the only D in the top ten with Broberg in the teens. Broberg seems to have limited offensive upside from what I’ve read.

And my personal pick at #3 would be Turcotte right now. But it really could be a tossup with Cozens/Dach/Krebs/etc. I think after Hughes and Kakko, it comes down to personal preference with the rest of the top-ten forwards.

Broberg over Byram is my personal contrarian opinion that’s really not based in anything too compelling, I promise.
