I'm aboard the Zegras train. Besides his elite vision and playmaking skills, I've seen highlights of him with the puck against the boards with some Justin Williams-esque slippery moves and escapability. That ability coupled with his passing is going to result in some great scoring opportunities.

Ya, no consensus at all with with who will be there for the Kings. Chicago still considering a group of 4 players at 3.

I'm of the opinion that there are obviously 2 alone in one tier, and then the next 3 in the second tier. That is why I am content with our pick. We are guaranteed to get a likely #1 d-man, a likely #1 center or an elite goal-scorer. I think the 5 is way more valuable than the 6-7-8, that is why I never wanted to move down from that spot.
I agree. Kings need quality not quantity. If anything trade up with 22 and/or 33.

Man, some of those Zegras highlights are nasty. I’m on board. I just wish we could package 22 and 33 and move up into the top 10 to get a pure goalscorer. If we could somehow add Zegras and Caufield, that would be wild.

Want Turcotte but knowing that is slim I'm ok with Zegras, Dach, Cozens, etc.

Going out on a limb and say thats the Avs big board and they go Offense... I think Byram falls into our laps to be honest..
I think Hughes, Zegras, Cozens, Dach and possibly Podkolzin all will be #1C's w/ Podz being a #1W..Whereas is see Byram being above average #2... so not a franchise true #1 but a guy that could step in if needed ala Jake Muzzin when he was good..

Going out of a limb here too.

I seriously doubt all of Hughes, Zegras, Cozens, Dach and Podzolkin will be #1 forwards.

So big chances you draft a second line forward.

With saying Byram will probably be an above average #2, than you always take the defenseman.

The Hawks are taking Turcotte and thats pretty much a lock.
The Avs really dont have a need for a #2, at worse they already have 2 in Makar and Girard, with Makar having a #1 ceiling.. what they need is secondary scoring to grow with the youth they have. Zegras, Dach and Cozens all present the type of player they need.. The Avs are playing with house money and can aford to and will pick for need..

A true potential #1 defenseman will be in the talks for a top 2 pick. The Tavares-Hedmen draft as an example, there was no question Hedmen was a top #1D even if he was picked 2nd.
Hawks have been scouting Byram throughout the playoffs including sending the top brass. If they pass on him it means they see him as an average #2 and will probably pivot to Turcotte.

I have been leaning toward Cozens, but if Turcotte and Byram are gone when the Kings pick at #5, I don't think they can go wrong with Zegras or Cozens. I favor Cozens a bit only because he has a little more size.

WHAT!!!! ... you'd pass on Zegras and his pplaymaking abilities???
I mean think about it.... Zegras skating circles around the defense with his stick handling and zip goes a pass to the open winger who shots wide .... Yup, i'd take Cozens too because we need scoring dammit

Bowen Byram is a very good Defenseman but he is no Hedman... They aren't pivoting toward Alex Turcotte, he's already their guy...
I think Turcotte is closer to teh Hughes/Kakko Tier than he is to Byram.. he's that good and i was hoping the injury would allow him to drop to us... It ain't happening

You have inside information from the Hawks camp that they are taking Turcotte? That's pretty interesting.

I think they will have more internal discussions, they won't spend all that money\time to fly to the west coast to see every Byram playoff game including sending Bowman there. In the end like I said they will pivot back to Turcotte if they feel Byram is just a #2. I can see Byram fall to 5, but little to no chance Turcotte gets past the Hawks and Avs.

Draft Zegras if Turcotte and Byram gone.

Trade 22 and 33 up to get Newhook.

Christmas wish list!

Alex Turcotte is the guy I really wanted and at most would pull off a Makar and play in the NHL for a PO team.. The kid is just so damn underrated... if not for Hughes, he's not that far from Kakko..
Again, the current NHL Draft Lottery really screwed us!!

You can’t enough of the easy saves we give the opposing goaltenders cause of our AHL passing skills. Jk
