I think the WHL factor is there too. This decade, there's only been a handful of forwards drafted out of the WHL in the first round that's become a top line or top 6 forward.
How many NTDP guys have become top line or top 6 forwards this decade ?

Please let us get two players out of the following in the first round;

Turcotte, Zegras, Newhook, Tomasino,Kaliyev, Suzuki or Brink.

Amen

For whatever reason, the NTDP has always seemed to me to be better at producing defense. Not a ton of forwards come out of there as it is, but there's a decent list.

Auston Matthews
Jack Eichel
Brady Tkachuk
Matthew Tkachuk
Clayton Keller
J.T. Miller
Dylan Larkin
Alex Tuch
Colin White

I would say maybe half are first line talents. All those guys have worked their way into the top 6.

Where they come from shouldn't be a huge influence, but it absolutely is. Great players can come from just about anywhere.

I really think Byram and Turcotte are guarenteed gone by the time we pick. Blake and the crew better freakin do their homework cuz we cannot Eff this draft up. But there's always next year boys!!! ;) I'm already on the "PRAY FOR LAFRENIERE" campaign.

The #22 pick is more interesting than the #5 in terms of who could be there. We know that it’s Turcotte, Byram, Dach or Zegras at #5.

At #22 it could be several different players depending on if a run of Dmen go 10-20 and their will always be a couple of guys who drop like a rock and a few head scratchers who make people go “WTF were they thinking with ____ still on the board.”

I think Kaliyev is either going to go high or drop depending on teams feeling his “Meh” way of being disengaged at times and not playing hard is enough to look away from his 40 goal potential.

Honestly without personally watching these prospects over numerous games and conditions I cannot honestly say I hope they dont take this guy or that guy. As long as there is no massive gambles at 5 we will get a wicked player. After looking at the Yannetti's write up on some of the prospects they project a guy like Cousins to be better in 3 years because he hasn't filled out. Before reading his thoughts I was kinda hoping we would pass Cousins by. There were a few neat thoughts he shared and after reading those thoughts and looking at the last 2 drafts I am comfortable w whoever they take at 5. Our scouts have done a great job lately and looks like they have done their homework once again.
