I really like the Bjornfot pick. Not disappointed at all. Only thing he doesnt have is elite offensive ability, but the lack thereof doesn't make him a bottom pairing d-man. If he pans out, he'll be the perfect partner for one of the offensive d-man.

The Kings needed skill/speed/scoring in the 1st round, and they got another injury prone prospect and a questionable defenseman, whose mold could have been selected later. We could have gotten Zegras and Kaliyev, and had a lethal offense in 21-22 season. I don't anticipate Blake picking Kaliyev tomorrow. What a bust of a draft.

That sporting news rating seems a bit over optimistic, I don't see star potential really. He could of course, but not likely or he would have went much, much sooner.

Hockeyprospect is the other way. He's at least an 8 for skating and his hockey sense should be higher than 6, according to just about everyone.

Kaliyev is a huge gamble. They could take it but we’ll see.

Turcotte may be better than Zegras, if he plays a full NHL season consistently. Vilardi was also better than other picks, but we saw what happened with that.

I would rather take a gamble with Kaliyev, who has a high scoring upside and size, then take the safe pick and have another Walker, Folbert or Roy on our roster.

Kings get two of the great leaders in this draft with Turcotte and Bjornfot. Talked to coaches in Sweden's national team system and they couldn't be more effusive in their praise of Bjornfot. Captained SWE to gold at U18s. Offensive game needs to be fostered a bit more

He's a helluva skater. Look at his skating at 3:2o how quick his stick and feet are to elude forecheck...better than Drew freaking Doughty. Seriously. I'm smiling from ear to ear. Helluva talent.
and rushes at 3:13. Physical on team canada at 3:47 and strips puck from Cozens easily. Look at his feet at 4:13. great mobilty and speed.
5:37 he uses his hand to move a puck in a puck battle. It's so quick, you have to watch it twice, to see how quick his hand moves it. Who does that in a tight battle? pretty slick. Love this kid. Scrub my azz...he looks like an 18 year old Doughty.

Kaliyev has size but doesn’t use it effectively at this stage of his young career. You will not see him win many board battles or get overly dirty in the hard places on the ice.

As mentioned, he is good a find those places in the offensive zone to get himself in good scoring positions and we all know about his offensive pedigree.

**Disclaimer: I’m not scout by any means so don’t hold me to the Kaliyev evaluations. I have talked to a few scouts about Kaliyev and the tidbits of insight they gave me pretty match what’s in the reports/media.
