Craig Johnson’s son rounds out the 1st round.
****, I’m getting old.
14. Raphael Lavoie | RW | Halifax | QMJHL |
62gp-32g-41a-73pts | 6’4, 196 | 9/25/00 | Shoots Right | Chambly, QC | |||
It’s quite surprising that this skilled winger with size and speed didn’t garner as much attention as he deserved, especially after he posted consecutive dominant series during Halifax’s run to the QMJHL finals. Although he’s built like a power forward, Lavoie doesn’t play a menacing game, mostly because he’s rather embarrass opponents with his expert puck handling, deceptive speed and laser shot. |
Kings gauranteed a shot at one of Lavoie, Brink, or Kaliyev, but I wonder who they end up taking. Heartbreaking for all three of them.
Moreso than settlemenrichie10 one would thinkWell if we know one thing it’s that we can surely trust Craig Button
What do they know? The sporting news seems to like Bjornfot.
22. Los Angeles Kings (from Toronto) - Tobias Bjornfot, LHD, Djurgårdens IF (SHL)
Excellent pick by the Kings to grab one of my favorite defensemen in the draft. Sweden's Tobias Bjornfot is one of the cleanest puck distributors you''l find, but he also is decisive with his counterattacks and he can transition from defense to offense as well as any blueliner available at the draft. He has top-pairing upside and star potential.

22. Tobias Bjornfot | LHD | Djugarden J20 | Superelit |

The Kings seem to have their ear to the ground when it comes to Swedish prospects, so it’s a good bet they know about this confident two-way blueliner who distinguished himself as the top defenseman at multiple international tournaments. Bjornfot was Djugardens’ money maker on the back end and can skate nearly as well as Borberg, except the former knows how to maintain a tight gap and distribute the puck unselfishly. |
I don't think he'll be a bust but I don't think Caufield will be as big of an impact player as some expect him to be.Not all these USNTDP guys are going to pan out. Who going to be the bust(s)?
Aki Berg is a great start lol. What do they know?
Us internet nobodies are all knowing and think this pick stinks
Allegedly, Kaliyev has compete problems which may be turning off drafters.
Still can't believe Chicago took Dach over Illinois-born Turcotte.
I really liked his direct decisions on defensive plays and seems to have great mobility. Due to that mobility, I see why LA scouts see some offensive upside due to his defensive reads and using his mobility to transition to offense. Bjornfot might be the best pure defender of all our prospects already. The sporting news seems to like Bjornfot.

Kings get two of the great leaders in this draft with Turcotte and Bjornfot. Talked to coaches in Sweden's national team system and they couldn't be more effusive in their praise of Bjornfot. Captained SWE to gold at U18s. Offensive game needs to be fostered a bit more
Instead of spouting off...watch him play. Theres a reason he was team captain and #7 euro.
He's a helluva skater. Look at his skating at 3:2o how quick his stick and feet are to elude forecheck...better than Drew freaking Doughty. Seriously. I'm smiling from ear to ear. Helluva talent.
and rushes at 3:13. Physical on team canada at 3:47 and strips puck from Cozens easily. Look at his feet at 4:13. great mobilty and speed.
5:37 he uses his hand to move a puck in a puck battle. pretty slick. Love this kid. Scrub my azz...he looks like an 18 year old Doughty.
Lazy is the hardest thing to fix. If this is true, then it's unsurprising he fell out of the first.
