While I'm not happy with the pick and I don't think now is the time to try and play it safe, I trust the scouting staff right now. And if Kaliyev continues to drop then I'll change my tune and our guys see something in him that we don't. Some good forwards are dropping again so we may get lucky at 33

I'm not sure why people assume a defenseman who doesn't score goals in bunches is somehow a "bottom-pairing" dman.

11 goals in 39 games is pretty good if you ask me.

20+ goals in a 82 game season

Ok, but that doesn't really change anything. If they feel he's the BPA, then they should take him, regardless of what they do or do not have anywhere else in the system. Things change over 3-5 years. If they're wrong, they'll be fired eventually.

It's a crap shoot.But when you need top talent at fwd and top talent at defensmen,the pick was awful at 22.Its more of a 33 pick.

Central Scouting euro ranking #7 for a reason. Seider was #6.
He was Team Sweden Captain...no scrub is ever slelected captain of a national team. ever.

There was already a defenseman ranked lower than him taken. He wasnt likely to be there at 33.

I like they are building a pipeline on the backend. Can always peddle on for a forward when the time comes.

They’ll grab a forward at 33. By reports from those in the know, there isn’t much drop off with the forward class from roughly 20 to 40.

There are going to be some solid options at the top of Round 2 tomorrow.

Lavoie has fallen pretty far. Think he or Kaliyev will be taken in the first round? At this rate, Kings could end up with one of Lavoie, Kaliyev, or Brink at 33. Pretty wild.

He does have a bit of lindholm in his game... I think you guys will like his game a lot.... I don't think hell be a top pairing guy... but a solid 3/4 guy you can depend on at end of game/pk etc.
