Just saw the Kings are playing the Predators on opening night. That's definetly going to be "watch the first period only" game for me.

Not completely against it, by all accounts hes a player that will absolutely play in the nhl, vs the boom bust that everyone wanted in kaliyev

Fair enough, but they had a chance to address scoring whether it was kaliyev or not. That and they could have nabbed a sure thing nhl dman with their next pick. It's a waste imo.

Martinez is one of the large group of babysitters on the roster, he'll be gone before they win again. Forbort will be gone after next year. Brickley is likely nothing. MacD is probably not much. Lintuniemi is probably less than that. Moverare is still in Sweden. Reddekopp is likely nothing. Out of 11, there's 4 that might be something since they're all 21 or younger. Are you listing them as a complaint about the pick, or to emphasis the lack of depth the Kings have in that position?

Now do that for all the other positions and watch how quickly it runs out.

Nondescript 6'0" 200lb d-man who excels at nothing is like the one thing we have infinity of.

He could very well end up a top-4 d-man down the road and it's still a possibly stupid pick.

It has nothing to do with how serviceable he may or may not be. He is not going to be much better than we already have and this team still cant score.

Do we know that? If he’s a second pairing guy that’s fine by me. Also, if you can develop enough defenseman, they can always be used down the road as a trade chip to acquire help up front.

Kid has room to grow. I got no problem letting it play out.

“A team told me they were hoping to get him (McMichael) at 33, 34, I’m not gonna name the team” haha - Burke

That's all fine and good, and I agree, but I don't think Bjornfot is going to be significantly better than Alex Vlasic, who will likely be available at 33. Clague and Anderson are the most likely to be on the team in three years, with an outside chance for Phillips. I just think there are better players on the board that won't be available at 33.

Keep this in mind, this isn’t a DL draft but rather a BPA one, so when this scouting staff feels this strongly about a Dman to select him in the 1st round... he must be really good... Clague, Anderson, Phillips and even Durzi were not 1st rounder but Bjornfot was so keep that mind and don’t be surprised not if but when the kid proves to be the right pick...

I said the same thing about Hickey and Forbort.

Doubt Bjornfoot would have been there, theres been plenty of forwards that have dropped, are you saying they for sure cant pick up scoring with 33?

Aki Berg at 18, he was described has a player that can hit like Scott Stevens and skate like Paul Coffey."

And what were players available at 22 described as? Are some described as goal scorers? Does that mean they'll score in the NHL? Or might they be incorrect?

Guys Bjornfot was ranked a first round pick, he was the best D left in the first round. I really hope they feel Vilardi can play cause leaving those forwards can bite us. So far other teams passed on Kaliyev, interesting.
