There's going to be quite a bit of juggling I assume in both the AHL and the NHL. Vegas' affiliate was Chicago. St. Louis' affiliate was San Antonio.

I kind of wonder if Phoenix comes to the Central in the NHL. Colorado Eagles coming over in the AHL to the Central. Would assume that Chicago (AHL) could become St. Louis' (NHL) affiliate.

You'd almost have perfect coverage in the AHL and NHL in the Central. Only the Griffins (AHL) wouldn't have an NHL affiliate in the Central (NHL). Phoenix would be the only NHL team with an AHL affiliate outside of the Central.

I’m pretty sure the NHL has already said that Arizona in the Central is the plan once Seattle joins.

Well but will their AHL team as well ?

It would be cool, but it would require some maneuvering.

Utica has only had a team since 2013, and they're the current affiliate for Vancouver. Vancouver would need to move their franchise to somewhere in the Pacific region like Vegas did, and then Grand Rapids could go East.

That would open the door for Tuscon to come to the Central giving you all NHL and AHL teams from the Central being the same organization.

Thats how the AHL map will look with the Seattle team in Palm Springs and the Vegas AHL team moved to well Vegas.

Not necessarily, but it's possible. There also hasn't been any traction on the rumor of Phoenix to Houston. Phoenix losing the Coyotes was a sure bet when the Atlanta Thrashers were still a thing. The NHL has fought tooth and nail to keep them there. Besides, they aren't the only location that is viable. Quebec City really wants a team.

If Houston did get a team, you would think eventually that San Antonio would also get an AHL franchise to be the affiliate. I doubt they would try to support both teams in the same city.

Sure looks more and more like he tanked last season to force a buyout so he could get out of Dallas.
I think so also. Got into an argument with some idiots on a Facebook page about it before I had to leave the page. Could not take the stupidity anymore.

So annoying how terrible the Pacific is this year. Never though I would say this, but I am really becoming annoyed by the 3 point games lately. 1 loss behind the division leader, yet 6 points back. bleh.

Thats expensive to say the least but Zucker had term i guess.

The price this time last year for Zucker was like a 1st and a borderline cap dump; just another example of what a disaster Paul Fenton was. Shame he's no longer employed by a divisional opponent.

I really like Zucker, I think he'll be fun to watch in Pittsburg. Sullivan has done a nice job with speedy wingers.

Aside from the initial sticker shock, that's a solid trade for both teams. Minnesota get assets (and a better look at Galchenyuk)- the Pens get 3.5 yrs of Jason Zucker.

I like the trade from the Pens. They need to win now because of their core age and recognized that Addison and that 1st won’t be contributing until after Malkin/Crosby are to old.

Agreed. I like the trade for both teams.

Honestly, I'm just amazed at how much the Pens have been able to retool year-after-year around their core. It doesn't matter who they put around Crosby and Malkin, it just seems to eventually click and work out. Even when they ship out Kessel -- after getting two Cups out of him -- they're still pressing on. Playoffs every year since 2006-07; three Cups; and all with quite a lot of roster turnover. They know when and are willing to part with key players at varying points (e.g. MAF, Kessel, Staal, etc.) and it doesn't matter. Sure, it won't be pretty at all once Sid and Geno retire; but, until then, the Pens know how to get the most out of their roster. Very, very, very impressive.

As much as I’m not high on Rutherford as an all around GM he has been a great fit for the Penguins. He knows exactly who Crosby and Malkin need next to them and any afraid to pay to get them.

Jay Bouwmeester collapsed on St. Louis' bench tonight. It's scary how reminiscent it is of Peverley. The faces of the other players calling for help I think is thing that is the most similar, haunting.

Only update is he's been taken to the locker room and the game is delayed.

Hope its nothing serious. That Peverley incident could've killed him pretty sure his heart stopped IRC

Yes they did confirm his heart stop, and they needed a defibrillator to save him. That's why the annual game they dedicate to Pevs foundation is focused on making sure defibrillators at all rinks at all levels.
