If anyone is suprised that this team is thinking of bringing Thompson back, then they haven't been a Flyers fans long enough. This team always bets on dusters, you can set your watch by it.

The only suprise here is that they aren't also talking about bringing back Grant at the same time.

There is no indication that the team is thinking of bringing Nate Thompson back. Thompson wanting to come back does not equal the Flyers having interest. There's more evidence that he won't be re-signed based on Fletcher's comments about the Bottom 6.

Normally, I’d shrug it off. Players saying they want to return and the team wanting them to return are two different stories. Still might be.

But the actual Flyers account tweeting about Thompson wanting to return makes me uneasy. They’ve so far posted 2 quotes from today. A Sanheim quote about gaining experience. And Thompson wanting to hold this team hostage again. You’d think a 36 year old washed up plug free agent doesn’t merit a Flyers tweet.

Niskanen had the highest xGF and xGFrel of our defensemen in the playoffs. Not bad for a guy having a bad post season.

Worst among Flyer top 9 forwards in xGA/60 and HDCA/60.
Despite OZ Zone starts of 76%.

Worth among top 9 isn't a bad thing for a rookie on a deep team. Either way, he's going to improve there with more games played.

Or they're simply using his interest as a "fluff" piece, showing how much a veteran is impressed by his younger teammates.

Of course, Thompson may simply be trying to create a market his services by playing good soldier.

Strength, pace and defensive issues.... Strength is easy to develop under an NhL training regime. Frost size is the most overrated excuse of why he isn’t a top level prospect. Pace was fine in the AHL and in the NHL he was more than ok for his first cup of tea in the league. Defense always needs to be improved. Coaching can also put him into more favorable positions due to the other two centers we have on the team currently.

Never said he was a stud... he is easily a top 100 prospect in the game currently.
I explicitly said Frost was a good prospect. I just said he wasn’t a stud & was overrated by those who act like he is. So we seem to mostly be in agreement. A top 100 prospect doesn’t = stud.

Like I said I’m not convinced I’m ever seeing a Flyers’ Stanley Cup.

I literally had to re-read each tweet twice. It's just such a stupid thing to say I assumed I must have misunderstood... but nope. He really is just that dumb and inconsistent.

It's mindblowing that he would complain about anything related to Giroux after how great he was this year, while never saying a single negative thing about guys like Niskanen, Hagg, or any other guy who sucked.

We're stuck with such a horrible staff. This could easily be even worse than the Hakstol era.
What a joke. How he can actually call out Giroux like that is sickening.

IMO the scary indicator that they'd want to bring Thompson back is that they traded for him in the first place! If we'd have polled here before the deadline I think the board would have been against trading for him (yes, we do know better). And they played him significant minutes, so it's not like the blind spot closed once they got a closer look.

The one clown at the top seems to think that "balls to the wall" means "lumbering around without any purpose." F***ing people are stupid. And you guys want to go outside of your house to eat and "hang out" and "have beers" amongst this rabble? F***ing hell, boys.

LeBrun was linking us to Thompson, Pageau, & someone else (maybe Grant?) in the month or so leading into the deadline with the qualifier that Pageau may be too much for the Flyers as a rental.

There was an uneasy feeling here. They somehow managed to make it even worse than I initially imagined with his usage in the playoffs.

Niskanen had the highest xGF and xGFrel of our defensemen in the playoffs. Not bad for a guy having a bad post season.

Niskanen through the first 9 games — round robin and first round — was dead last in relCF% and relxGF%. He had a better series against the Islanders, but it’s also skewed by a couple +40% performances. And Provorov seemed to be the guy doing the heavy lifting, more than Niskanen reverting to regular season form. At a certain point through the first series, microstats said he didn’t have a single individual entry/exit, along with Braun. He made terrible puck decisions, looked slow with bad routes, and earned every bit of vitriol.

Just like Sanheim-Myers had a Jekyll and Hyde first series and second series, so did Niskanen albeit in reverse. You like narratives.....that’s the narrative. And small sample acknowledged, Ghost actually was the highest in relxGF%. But we can’t say that because it didn’t matter.

Like I said, the AV/Fletcher era could easily end up worse than the Hak/Hex era.

At least with the previous idiots we had hope for the future and didn't even expect to compete. The current idiots took over an amazing situation and have no excuse for their continued failures.

If I can take one positive, its that Sanheim was also interviewed so hopefully he is going no where fast.

All he needs to do is have a few fights in pre season and wait for some of the youngsters to make a mistake or two.

Opening lineup job secured
All he needs to secure a spot is to show them his birth certificate to validate his age, step on a scale to prove his weight, and then flub a bunch of passes and shots to prove he has hands of stone.

That's all you need to have a permanent lineup spot. That's why Ghost and Frost are on the outside looking in.

Just let her go and laugh at it from a distance.

The boys in charge have their balls being washed by every media personality nodding along to every decision.

I find it quite amusing. Harry and Lloyd riding that hog through the country with a shit load of money thinking they are geniuses. So fitting.
