They spent a good 20-30 minutes running down the Top 15 prospects.

Yeah they actually spent a decent amount of time on prospects, and Nelson sounds excited about Fagemo.

But I guess Nelson Emerson being heralded as someone who’s great at his job will be frowned upon by those who still hold a grudge over something that transpired 20 years ago...

Takeaways:

College to pro is a hard jump.

Prospects with proven pro experience are respected. (Europe, AHL)

Fagemo is tenacious and brings teammates into the play.

Dudas as a locker room glue guy.

Thomas as a playmaking winger in the style of a Williams.

Madden’s smarts could help him become a pro sooner than later. Needs bulk.

JAD earned Stothers’ trust in all situations as young player.

If we're being honest with ourselves, it might be more important that they have an AHL season than anything else.

Would be real nice if the 2020-2021 AHL season was able to start on time, given that they won't be resuming the 2019-2020 season. It would definitely lessen the sting of not getting Kings hockey until December/January.

Emerson was the one who said Iafallo would make the team before any of us knew his name, right?

Some interesting info in this article:

...a couple years ago Vollman ranked the top NCAA coaches ready to make the leap to the NHL. Presumably, he is now busy conducting a similar exercise for the Kings’ search for a new AHL coach in Ontario.

Lot of information on using analytics for scouting/drafting with quotes from Yannetti.

Was a really good read, and makes me feel a lot better about Blake's thought processes and delegation, as well as their openness to new ideas. As well as Vollman's interest and committment, he's a big name that they pointed out was surprising he wasn't hired earlier.

I don't have any issues with Emerson. Dude's been with the organization since 2006 as an Assistant Coach and 2008 as Director of Player Development before his promotion a few years back to Player Personnel. He was here for the development of the Kings Stanley Cup core. I think he's qualified.

Where'd he say this? Would love to see it. Not doubting, just curious because that's awesome if so.

Here's the Iafallo one, where Emerson noted his name specifically in August of 2017 before his rookie year (the article was written in Feb 2018 and references the prior summer).
When the Kings held a fan forum in August at the Microsoft Theater, a panel of the hockey operations department discussed the new era of Kings hockey. Asked for one name to remember among their prospects, director of player development Nelson Emerson gave one that few knew.
“Alex Iafallo,” Emerson said. “This kid gives us another swing.”

Kings' Alex Iafallo gives more than old-college try in surprising rookie season

Here's the Lizotte mention from the State of the Franchise at the end of August before rookie camp late last summer.
Just like Luff the previous year and Alex Iafallo the year prior, Blake Lizotte is a non-drafted free agent who is drawing some interesting attention in advance of training camp, which opens Friday. He was referenced by Nelson Emerson at the State of the Franchise forum two Fridays ago as a player to keep an eye on this camp, and his performance in the three rookie games justified that belief.

Similar motors, similar approaches: Anderson-Dolan, Lizotte look to make jump - LA Kings Insider

Seriously, I used to be highly skeptical of Luc and Blake leading this franchise. But if you're lucky enough to attend a season ticket holder presentation, you'll see that these guys have a wealth of information available to them and have a solid plan. I was able to tag along on one and they won me over in 90 minutes. There was an incredible amount of candor and awareness in how bad the team is/was and what was lacking. They went over each shortcoming and addressed how it would be remedied. I left impressed. Every single detail of trades (when to pull the trigger), draft choice values, the prospect pipeline, when players are expected to be NHL ready etc., is calculated to the nth degree. You may not agree with their hiring practices or other decision making processes, but they're not just winging it. At the very least it convinced me to give them a shot and not be so negative.

Ok... FINE. I'll give him a chance.
