Russian poster on the main board said Prokhorkin's rights were traded in the KHL and it's rumored he's signing a two year deal to go back.

Prokhorkin was frustrating. There was short spurts where he played really well and you could see the potential.

Most of the time he was ineffective, but not for lack of ability, but rather lack of effort. I found that surprising. Maybe he never felt comfortable here.

Farewell, Porkins. Hello, roster/contract spot.

Totally expected. I wasn't really considering him part of that Bottom 6 "log jam" because there were no guarantees he would be on the NHL roster. If he doesn't have that guarantee after giving it a go, it always made sense he'd head back to Russia.

They might actually play hockey on time over there as well v. who knows when over here. Imagine him waiting around until December and then not making the NHL roster.

I had high hopes for Porkins, he flashed so much potential. Ultimately I think he just never fully felt comfortable and you could tell on ice.

Sounds just like Loktionov.
Loktionov always felt like a tweener to me; couldn't produce enough for scoring role in the NHL, and didn't bring any other useful enough skill set when not scoring.

Prokhorkin IMO, could easily be a quality NHLer. He reminds me a lot of Wojtek Wolski. Both big strong powerful forwards with some skill that can look really good at times, but most of the time didn't seem to care.

Prokhorkin would only be useful if he had skills/ability to be in the top 6. He didn't seem to be a top 6 guy. He was not suitable in the bottom 6 because guys like Lizzote/Wager/Moore etc. have a lot more speed, hustle, and puckhounding ability.

And backed up by Hoven

I will be pissed if we resign Lewis. There is zero point in doing so. We have so many bottom 6 and top 6 guys competing for positions that it just doesn't make sense to have Lewis. If we need a mix of vets, we have plenty of that as well.

Kings mailbag: Future UFA targets, Jeff Carter's surgery,...

Will Trevor Lewis’ expiring contract be picked up this offseason (meaning will he be re-signed)?
I don’t believe so — especially since Lewis was said to be available at the trade deadline. There weren’t any contract negotiations at that time and suspect there haven’t been, of late. It’s clear at this point in the Kings’ rebuild that they need roster spots to give their prospects a chance.

Wagner is really Lewis part deux. I could see the Kings maybe giving Lewis a short term, low cost offer to be a spare 13th forward, but I also could see him signing with a contender.

If anyone signs with the Ducks or Sharksthis offseason, I bet it’s Lewis. I hope his next contract is in a place with no state income taxes.

Pointless having him even as a 13th forward, even if it is for one year and at the lowest salary. I would rather have one of the other young bottom 6 guys as a 13th forward so that the coach can rotate them in and out game by game, like we saw this season (until someone sticks).

I agree there, I'd also like to see the likes of Wagner, Iafallo, Roy, etc. take on more responsibilities, and I think they can handle that stuff, but I also wouldn't be entirely shocked to see Lewis back because apparently they like the example he sets off the ice, like being a gym rat.
