NBCSN is replaying game 5 against the Rangers with commentary from Stoll, Lewis, Martinez and Eddie Olczyk. Very interesting stuff to hear it from the players.

Is there a replay/recording of this anywhere?! My YouTube TV free trial ended so I can't watch NBCSN anymore. What was the most interesting piece of commentary you heard?

MacDermid 2 year contract extension coming right up....according to Hoven...

This is a hill I'm happy to die on. MacDermid has done everything they've asked him to do, and the team plays bigger & better with him in the lineup. If he's our #7 when we get back into the playoffs, I'm a happy camper.

I'm not sure where you could find a recording of it unfortunately. Maybe NBC sports live extra?

I didn't get to watch the whole thing, but they didn't really say anything that was surprising or something that we didn't already know. But it was still fun to hear from them.

that's why i don't like how people shit on him, he plays acceptable defense for a bottom pairing guy, he PKs, he paid his dues in the A. good soldier. we need good soldiers.

Every time I see 6'5" 235 I'm like jeez what a f***ing wagon

Never want to get hit by that guy
i remember seeing i think a postgame with him and he was rocking visible abs too, wouldn't be surprised one bit if he walks around closer to 250 during the season

I'm probably the biggest fan of MacD. Have an authentic road jersey of his that I got near the end of the '18 season when he wasn't even on the team anymore and it wasn't known if he would ever make it again. Figured he was the last true enforcer the Kings would ever have with the way the league is now.

That said, I understand why people crap on him because he is probably the worst player on the team in a vacuum. Of course, these people don't realize where the team is at right now and don't fully grasp what is trying to be built. While MacD may never develop further in to a guy that can be a #7 on a contender, I look at a guy like Deryk Engelland who didn't break in to the NHL until eight years after being drafted and was looked at as more of a tough guy. Wound up developing a pretty decent career for himself. Completely worth it to give MacD the NHL level reps while the team is still not contending and he isn't blocking anyone. The latter comment usually goes hand-in-hand with those that shit on MacD because those are the posters that want to see every prospect on the NHL roster now and also think they are a playoff team if they do so.

Anyways, I've already spoken to this guy's intangibles. You want to bring in a bunch of talented prospects into the lineup, you are going to want them to see a guy that worked his ass off just to play an NHL game let alone stick around for as long as he has. Routinely crushes the fitness testing and put a ton of work in at the AHL level. We can talk leadership on this team and just talk about long-time vets but, like any business, there are going to me middle managers that are more available than the CEO. MacD is a good middle manager for these guys to be around.

I love this signing for 3 reasons :

1. We need a sheriff to ensure our kids and Drew are not targeted.

2. He plays all out, doesn’t take shifts off, and bleeds for this team. This is infectious within a dressing room and being rewarded for this type of play is justly deserved.

3. He knows his place as a #7, he knows his role. His salary is in line with that position and it does not hurt him skill wise to sit out 2 to 3 games in a row against less feared opponents. Rather have him sitting out on a semi regular basis than calling up a rookie that needs the experience and time and having them continually sit.

Prime Ticket is airing a Kings vs. Ducks game from the 2002-03 season right now, and much to my delight, who do I see lining up at LW on the top line alongside Jason Allison and Ziggy Palffy? Why none other than Erik Rasmussen.

I was one that felt very strongly that he was no more than an AHL guy, good for odd call up in very specific circumstances. I’ve always like him though and respected his attitude and commitment so am delighted to be wrong about him. He’s probably going to be a career #6/7 but he absolutely has a role to play on the team we have right now. We absolutely seem to play better when he dresses and that’s one of those genuine intangibles that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Given his development trajectory it wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up as a sure fire, solid #6, even on a contender. I think he still has more upside and his attitude means I think he will hit his ceiling. He has earned his role on this team and that sort of character is both needed and to be admired. Delighted to be wrong.

Richards owned Kesler and Burrows in that series setting the tone for the Kings to dominate the entire 2012 playoffs.

It felt like in later years, after Richards and Stoll both deteriorated and became ineffective, the Kings sorely missed their physical edge, as the Sharks and Ducks favorably matched up against the Kings when they only had to contain Kopitar and Carter.

I feel that Hults is going to be a solid two way/hibrid Dman in the NHL. He skates very well and is positionally sound in all 3 zones. Has a good two way game and given the chance reads the play well. I would say that he is allot like Mikey Andersen in that respect. They are similar players but different personality types. Both should be long term Kings.
