Powers Again Dubbed Coach of the Year Finalist - Arizona State University Athletics

For the second-straight season, Sun Devil Hockey head coach Greg Powers was named a finalist for the Spencer Penrose Award, the AHCA announced Tuesday. The annual award is given to the CCM/AHCA Division I Men's Hockey Coach of the Year, which will be announced on Tuesday, April 7.

The worse things get economically, the more they'll alienate fans if the two sides squabble. There might not be fans in the seats until they get a vaccine of some kind, which is likely the next calendar year.
Depends on when they find a viable vaccine. The slowest part of most trials is patient recruitment and that won’t be an issue here. They should be able to run the trial relatively quickly using the same approach as the annual ‘flu vaccine. It’s a relatively short illness so once a substance hits phase 3, it’s game on.

There are all sorts of treatment studies in progress. One is even looking at Viagra as a treatment. There are loads of trials studying the virus so they can better understand the risk factors and so on. The Pharmaceutical sector is definitely seems to be looking at every possible angle.

It sounds to me like any existing drug which lowers the viral load to the point where someone's immune system can finish killing the virus has to be considered as a treatment at this point. There is really a need to find the one which works as the best prophylactic for health care workers and those who are at higher risk.

A little more context from The Athletic on that Iafallo - Carter drone delivery:

"“He actually said he tried to send me a beer,” Carter said, chuckling. “But it was too heavy for a drone, so he switched to toilet paper. But I think toilet paper made for a better video. I had no idea what was in it at first. We just started cracking up when we saw it was toilet paper.”"

Not sure why people got mad about that story. I thought it was hilarious.

People got mad about the story? People really are losing their minds.
I didn't "get mad", I just said I thought it was in poor taste given the circumstances. A couple things that I know are really hard to believe these days:

- An opinion can be had without getting angry, upset, or outraged
- Not everything everyone does in life has to be posted on twitter/instagram/whatever

Does anyone have any interest in signing Joel Edmundson this offseason? He plays LD, he's big (6'4"), he's young (26), and he has Cup-winning experience with the Blues last year. He seems like he's just been the odd man out on two deep bluelines in St. Louis and Carolina.

Not sure he's an upgrade over Hutton, but figured I'd float it out there.

He would certainly add size to an otherwise smallish group outside of MacDermid. Not opposed to it, but not sure he fits the mold that McLellan is looking for. Hutton seems to have done well adapting to the system, but maybe he would get a better deal elsewhere.

I think he fits a need back there. He is still young, love the size and comes with experience.

I love Bjornfot and Anderson and I have a lot of reservations about Hickey but do think he will be serviceable in the long run. Having a guy like Edmundson on the second pairing bring some size, eat some minutes and block some shots would be a nice compliment while the rooks find their NHL way.

plus if we sign him for free there is nothing lost and he or someone else can always be moved in the future.

Doubt he'd sign a 1 yr deal like Hutton did, but it's definitely worth investigating. Even if they brought Hutton back, they should still try to add a vet on LD. Having a LD of smallish kids and MacD isn't a great plan, especially when your RD is smallish.

I'd be interested in locking Edmundson up long-term and letting Hutton walk. Edmundson has proven plenty, and I think he's an ideal candidate to be a #3-4 defenseman moving into the future for the reasons you mentioned and others have above. He has size, he's a low-mistake puck mover who skates well, he plays LD and matches well with our projected crop, and he's young enough to grow with our youth movement.

He makes a bit over $3M/yr now; do we think 4 years @ 4-4.5M would get it done? I'd honestly be willing to give 1-2 more years too, don't have any qualms about a player like him at 31-32 years old, especially on defense.

I think if we want to keep it short 4@$4.75 would be ok, if he waqnts 5 years then 5@$4.5 as you've written

NBCSN is replaying game 5 against the Rangers with commentary from Stoll, Lewis, Martinez and Eddie Olczyk. Very interesting stuff to hear it from the players.

Is there a replay/recording of this anywhere?! My YouTube TV free trial ended so I can't watch NBCSN anymore. What was the most interesting piece of commentary you heard?

MacDermid 2 year contract extension coming right up....according to Hoven...

This is a hill I'm happy to die on. MacDermid has done everything they've asked him to do, and the team plays bigger & better with him in the lineup. If he's our #7 when we get back into the playoffs, I'm a happy camper.
