With veteran Jonathan Quick signed to a nearly impossible-to-trade contract and 25-year-old Cal Petersen knocking at the door, the rebuilding Kings might be willing to part with Campbell.

We’ve learned that Dubas has kicked tires on the 28-year-old, who carries a friendly $675,000 cap hit this season, before his raise kicks in. Campbell’s AAV goes up to $1.65 million for 2020-21 and 2021-22.

On kings of the pod they said a campbell deal is more likely to come in the offseason. For whatever that is worth.

Could see either scenario playing out.

We don’t have any high end talent. Grundy, JAD etc are all bottom six forwards. Our only hope is Kaliyev, Vilardi and maybe Turcotte.

'We don't have any high end talent'?? I definitely disagree. Yes, our older prospects (Grundstrom, JAD, Thomas, Clague, Anderson, Durzi, etc) mostly project as middle/bottom 6 forwards and depth defenseman, but a lot of our younger prospects have pretty high upside.

Bjornfot, Vilardi, Turcotte, Kupari, Fagemo, and Kaliyev all have high end talent. They're all either 1st round picks or 2nd round picks that are widely viewed as 'steals' right now.

Bjornfot is somewhat quietly having a VERY good season for an 18 year old in the AHL and could be a top pairing d-man in a few years (top 4 at least IMO). Kaliyev is an elite offensive talent and could be a 30/40+ goal scorer in the NHL one day. Vilardi, Turcotte, and Kupari are all very highly skilled players that could end up as very good/elite top 6 forwards. Fagemo has a great shot and motor and could end up as a really good top 6/middle 6 forward.

Yes, some of these prospects have struggled recently (particularly Turcotte and Kupari) but they're still very young and still have high end talent/upside. Maybe the Kings don't have a superstar level prospect (Honestly could still be Turcotte but I know everyone including me has their concerns right now), but that definitely doesn't mean they don't have high end talent.

As has been reported, a lot of teams are calling for Kreider, and there are teams on that list, waiting for the trade, as T0ffoli is part of their backup plan. This morning on a podcast, it was mentioned that the Blues are pushing for Kreider, and part of their package includes 2 , 1st rounders. Joe Haggerty, from NESN who is pretty good NHL reporter, mentioned that the Bruins are waiting for the Rags to decide and are ready to pull the trigger on TT at that time. I think he'd be a good fit for them, and given talent on the line and usage he'd do well there. And of course would cost them much less.

Haggerty: Toffoli would be solid fallback plan for B's

We don’t have any high end talent, list 3 potential first line talents.....

How much high end talent do you think teams usually have in the pipeline at one time?

Yeah, I mean Turcotte, Kaliyev, and Vilardi are all top six talents. Kupari has top six potential, as well, if he can get back on track.

I'm really not worried about our future forward corps. Our defense, on the other hand...

Most GMS/staff have their ear to the wire and know when a trade is coming. So my guess is that the Rags are going to ride it out to the 24th and hope the Kreider price goes up, and thus the Kings are also waiting , for Kreider to be moved in case the other teams (pens, calgary, etc) will up their price for TT. 3 weeks is too long to be on the bench/press box.

Blake doesn't have to make a move now, he can wait it out.

I know you're also a flyers fan and it is ok to say it got tweaked against the flyers and not in practice ;)

Actually , that's correct, whatever happened in practice aggravated the tweak.

It's been quite a few years since I've been excited to watch the Flyers, but this year, they are fun to watch. Hexy's hard work is paying off and still a lot of blue chippers on the Farm. Next few years are going to be fun. more so if they unload Giroux and esp. Voracek.

NOt sure how true, but read where Campbell hasnt' been moved yet because the Kings arent' sure if Peterson is ready to be Quick's full time backup. I disagree, I think he's ready and given the teams that need good backups, I'd not hesitate to move Campbell.

On Hovens podcast today:
Kings Of the Podcast Ep. 19 with Dave Joseph and Mike Hammer

Toward the end, Dave Joseph said that Arthur Staple (The Athletic NY) said that the LA Kings will replace Blake over the summer /or seasons end, with Hexy. Hoven disagreed, saying it won't happen, no reason to and he hasn't heard that, and he has sources. He did say that the GM chair is different now, when Luc and DL were a team, DL has full say over all moves. Now Luc's job title changed and he has full say over moves, which doesn't always sit well with Blake. When JOseph debated the issue, Hoven did say he knows he's not always right, but he thinks he is this time. IMO, Hexy would be a good fit. For what it's worth, Staple is a generally considered a good reporter and source.

HOven also said LA won't move any goalies until after the season.

I can’t wait until Dustin Brown is running this franchise into the ground 15 years from now.

Thanks for the info. Luc and Dean were never a team. Dean and Hextall, and once he arrived Sutter were always talking and bouncing ideas off of each other. Luc was in charge of in game entertainment, etc.

If Blake goes, Robitaille needs to be gone as well.

Man, what you talking about. Bropitar would be great at running the Kings (into the ground).

I dunno, I could see Brown coaching someday somewhere, but it's going to take a while.
