The real loser mentality is all the tanking talk. The coaches and players aren't out there trying to lose, so if they win, people will just get upset for no reason. They don't care about whoever the next prospect is.

As for this game, it wouldn't shock me if the Kings managed to win. I won't be surprised if they lose this 2 goal lead, and the game, either. But TB just came off the long winning streak, they have this 1 game at home before going on the road for 2, then a 10 day break, and then a California road trip. I could see this as a throwaway for them.

Well, that loser mentality got Terry Murray fired in 2011-12. Remember how often that team won the possession numbers but achieved nothing on the scoreboard? These guys don’t need to be coddled, especially if they don’t show up for over 40 minutes and finally try to score when there’s two minutes left.

And oh my how quickly did that two goal lead disappear. Quick went for a swim outside of his crease.

Even when they were winning with Sutter it was all about playing winning hockey, even if you lost. The day he got there, after they won the Cup, or on the way to the 2nd. It was all the same. If it was all about winning, they would've been better during the regular seasons, but that never mattered.

I'm just not buying that playing the way they're supposed to, but not winning, is a loser mentality. They don't have enough talent to win consistently, but if at least the effort is there, what more can you want? The Kings don't get to even talk to the prom queen, because they're not in that league. There's no expectation of actual success at the moment. Being in any given game is enough.
