This would be disappointing for the long term because we are still lacking the future franchise player that is probably only going to come with a Top 5 pick. But it's nice to see the progress some players are making.

Perfect scenario is improvement from all the young guys currently here--and any call ups--for a just outside black hole spot but then a lottery win.

Myself--and most everyone--had them pegged for black hole at best but probably a little worse than that. The defense made me think they could be worse than that, which proved itself out at the start of the year. They are looking better on the blue line but Quick is playing extremely well to make it look better. If he slips a little bit, they will still probably be around the #5 spot in the draft.

As mentioned earlier, they are still last in points %. Let us also not forget last season in January when they had a nice little stretch and some people got excited about a playoff run.

I just like seeing good plays in big spots from unheralded young guys. They are going to have to be the glue of the team in the future when they are ready to compete. Feel like they are taking a little ownership of--if not the team--their spot on the roster. I know there is some hemming and hawing about T-Mac not playing Porky and still playing Lewis etc...but as someone that understands you can't just give young guys 20 minutes a game because it is exciting for us to watch, I like how things are being handled. I mean, they are being handled like the guy has a five year contract and developing these guys is an important part of this season.

I like that Jim pointed out tonight that opposing teams have begun to treat Ryan like the bitch he is, treating him like Derek Forbort, forcing Doughty to basically non-participate.

i was actually impressed with Ryan tonight and recently. He broke up two clear cut 2 on 1s tonight with body/stick on the pass. Its a pitty is production is nothing, but hes a serviceable 6th D who can defend well.

Edwards and company had nice things to say about the Kings. Particularly Lizotte. Not sure why so many people are butthurt about his bias, maybe it only comes out against division/conference rivals

That was a pretty good game.Love how they found a way to come back and win it in OT. Last years team would've folded after they tied it and then given up 4 straight. On a bad note, the refs were just flat out bad. 1 pp in the 1st , while the Bruin did whatever they wanted the rest of the game. Those calls on the Kings, especially the broken stick was as bad a call as you'll see.

honestly i think he's a great announcer, he just gets out of hand during the fights or when there are penalties

he really calls a great game imo

We were 17 games in and Kempe hadnt played a good game since november last year, which was totally bull.

Kempe is a 3rd liner and will go through slumps.

On the other hand, Drew Doughty has really settled his game down with Ryan on his left side, and it has benefitted the team. Doughty is playing the kind of smart game that he excels at. You're right that teams are trying to force Doughty to move the puck early, but he's taking what the opponent is giving him.

Playing with Ryan has not decreased Doughty's production. In the 9 games with Ryan, he's scored 6 points (1 goal, 5 assists), which is pretty much on track with his production for the season, +1 as opposed to -6. +4 with 3 assists over the past 5 games.

He's been trying to do too much, particularly in the defensive zone. Now he appears less out of position, which is cutting down the goals against.

Don't get me wrong, Ryan is not the long term solution next to Drew, but he has had a calming effect on Drew's play.

Play of the game, in my opinion. Kempe has the game-breaking ability that's been missing on this team for years. Just don't expect to see it every night. Plus his half-court game is no good.

McLellan has been smartly using Kempe on power play zone entries for his ability to skate the puck with speed. Really showed it off on this play. I'd like to see Kempe and Lizotte on the PK more often.

Knowing that the B's need secondary scoring I can see definitely see them having to dish out a 1st for Toffoli at the deadline.
Not knowing the Bruins’ prospects, I won’t put any in this trade offer (added a 2nd instead), but Boston needs cap space. What about Toff to Boston for a 1st, a 2nd and Backes (50% retained). Backes has 1 year after this and maybe we can flip him at 2021 TDL for a pick. He has a MNTC in effect, so not sure if he’d accept a trade to LA.
Kings have cap space - we can use that as an asset to accumulate more picks.

I'm not convinced that's Ryan as much as it is not-Hutton and the whole team adapting to the system more.

Even with Doughty rough earlier play, he's better without Ryan than with. Almost the same shot differentials, better high danger chances, nearly 10% better GF%, even with a 15% disparity in ozone starts.

Consider that at least 2 of those 3 points came with Ryan off the ice, as one was the assist on Kopi's OT goal last night and another was a PP assist to Carter.

He's probably the best fit for the moment, unfortunately, but I'm not at all conflating that with Ryan is actually good. But--as I was wrong with Roy earlier--maybe he just needs more time to get settled in systematically too, I dunno. He just does wayyyy too much play watching for my liking, and is soft as charmin, and my short-term wish list is simply for Drew to have a partner that opponents have to respect.

Edit: ie Doughty/Walker was an unfair, ice-tilting pairing, but then that left the rest of the team as pathetic. I agree that he's been playing 'calmer' lately, and maybe I'm being unfair to Ryan, I just haven't seen much to suggest that he's the one with that affect.
