I thought Sweden played really aggressive and pressed right up to the edge of what is legal and what's a penalty. Unfortunately for them, they ran into a ref who wasn't interested in game management. In another situation, maybe some of those penalties are ignored.
The problem was that they were either right in front of the official or blatant.
I've reffed, you don't always want to make calls if you don't feel you have to. But when they are so obvious it is difficult to ignore, just so that kids don't bawl and fans don't whine. If the calls are there, you have to make them.
People need to go back. I think all the calls are pretty legit. Even the interference, which I didn't love, get s called ALL THE TIME in international hockey.
There was nothing called that was out of the ordinary.
The Swedish coach, instead of making condescending smiles, should have told his players to play smarter, instead of coaching a team of crybabies who throw their medals away.
I came in here feeling bad for the players, but the actions of the past ten or fifteen minutes make me realize they got exactly what they deserved considering their terrible sportsmanship and lousy attitudes.
Calls go against you all the time. How you respond is what makes the difference. I have been on the losing side of things enough to recognize it. God knows Canadian players have also imploded in the past under weak coaching and poor leadership.
